If you're still killing your free time on the PlayStation 3 and had high hopes for Call of Duty: Black Ops III this November, you're going to be a wee bit disappointed with what ships - if you're a single player fan anyway.
Activision and Treyarch has announced that the last-gen iteration of the futuristic shooter won't be getting a campaign mode, but will instead ship with Multiplayer more or less in-tact and the all-new Zombies mode. According to the post published on the official Call of Duty website, the reason that the PS3 won't be releasing with a campaign is simply because the console can't handle the vision that the developers have for the game and its four-player co-op campaign. There's also a bit of good news, though it's likely only going to apply to a small minority: buying Black Ops III will net you a bonus download of the original Black Ops.
It's a little disappointing, sure, but it's another sign that developers are slowly leaving the last-generation behind to create bigger and better products on the newer machines. Will this stop you from getting Black Ops III on your PS3, or will you pick it up just for the Zombie and Multiplayer anyway? Unload your thoughts down in the comments section below.

This is the last year for COD on last-gen. I'm almost suprised they're shipping it without a campaign. I feel like this could end badly unles they are beyond explicitly clear about it.
Can't stand the Call of Duty series, although it's nice to see that they're making an effort to make the campaign utilize the PS4 and Xbox One hardware, instead of downgrading it in order for the PS3 and Xbox 360 to be able to actually run it.
Either way, I have no idea who would want to play BOIII on last-gen consoles. I remember playing BOII and Advanced Warefare just a little while ago in my friend's house on PS3, and it looked and felt terrible, and I imagine BOIII will be the same.
So will this still be a full-priced retail game? I'd say cut the price in half and you'd still sell these very well. After all, you're cutting out half the game anyways.
Wonder if it'll be like BO2 and have the branching story junk, was shallow but cool.
Then why bother? Most of the West has moved on to PS4 anyway.
Am I the only one who still actively supports/plays on PS3, despite owning a PS4?
@Link41x
Probably!
What's your logic there?
@Hobowan some games didn't come out for ps4 this gen, South Park: the Stick of Truth for example.
I bet they still ask full price for half a game, though.
Supposedly it'll be $50 for the last gen versions
Does anyone know if they are using a new engine for Next GEN Cod?
I'm glad to see this, it's about time we start moving on from last gen systems. I feel like this gen has had an especially slow start because developers have been letting the old hardware hold them back.
Hahaha hahaha wtf. This is horrible.
