Not many games manage to roll absolute hype and saddening, sombre undertones into one amazing five minute trailer, but Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's somehow managed it. Directed and edited by none other than Hideo Kojima himself, it almost feels like a goodbye from the visionary in numerous ways, and not just because this could well be the last video that he works on for the series.
The first few minutes chronicle the legacy of the illustrious franchise, showing emotional clips from all of the past titles, while the latter half essentially turns into an episode of Gundam thanks to the craziest Metal Gear design yet.
There's no two ways about it - the trailer's an epic from start to finish, but how are your hype levels doing? Can you wait no longer for Big Boss' final adventure or are you too busy presenting offerings to your makeshift shrine of Kojima? Become a demon in the comments section below.

This is the most ludicrously brilliant trailer I've seen in a while. My hype levels for this are through the roof now - but it's all a bit bittersweet. To quote a famous Fall Out Boy song: Thnks fr th mmrs.
I will never forgive Konami. Rest assured, this is the last game I will buy from that pathetic company. From the reviews, it's great that it seems MGS will end with a bang, but I'm disgusted by how this all played out.
My hype levels are through the roof only one week away now, MGS is legendary.
That is the coolest mech I have ever seen in a game.
Spectacular. Kinda silly to just stop and stand in front of the mech because it got stuck on some rocks, I love it
AW MANNN I wanna watch this but I'm at work!! Gunna have to wait till I'm home to do it justice!
Every trailer for MGSV has been top notch, I remember how the Internet exploded when Ground Zeroes was announced, it was like E3 2000 all over again.
Really hit me in the feels. it's been a long journey. Anyone notice Mantis in the sky when the MG was chasing Snake?
Well I cracked and watched it on my phone, mannnn it's another cracker from Kojima. I'm gunna miss that crazy SOB. Roll on next week!!
Another amazing trailer! Have they already spliced one together using the Metal Gear theme music? That would be the ultimate nostalgic piece :')
I suppose thats it, then. (I'm still left will more questions than answers).
Don't mind me, I just seem to have got some dust in my eye. Both of them.
Nice to see Konami at least left Kojima's name in the credits, those petty pieces of, ahem, poop. They tried acting like the Patriots and deleting information on the internet (and, er, game cases) to change peoples' perceptions, but of course people aren't as stupid as Konami seem to assume.
Did... did that trailer just spoil something absolutely massive? I think Kojima's a little salty.
I'm gonna play it safe and not watch this - the reviews are in, the scores are great, and it's now less than a week away. I've got all I need for now to keep my hype at maximum levels, next time I see anything new from this game it'll be because I'm playing it XD
i dont know how im goin to fit this game into my life. i know its going to be there somehow. i just wonder what it will replace..........work.........sleeping.......eating......the band..........girl friend.......hmmmm i wonder what it will be.
