You know who Shinji Hashimoto is, right? Executive producer at Square Enix, he's the man who's appeared at major Western gaming events seemingly just to crush everyone's hopes and dreams. His latest escapade involved showing up at the PlayStation Experience in December, promising something pretty huge, and then unveiling the PlayStation 4 Final Fantasy VII remaster.
Anyway, he's back again, and this time, he's tempting us with unannounced PS4 titles. "Including ones yet to be announced, there really are a lot of titles this year, so please look forward to them," he told Famitsu in a recent interview, kindly translated by Gematsu.
To be fair, the Japanese publisher has been very supportive of Sony's newest machine so far. It's released Dragon Quest Heroes, announced a sequel, brought Final Fantasy Type-0 to the new generation, and it's currently working on Final Fantasy XV, which will, without doubt, be an incredibly important game not just for the franchise, but for the lasting success of home consoles in Japan.

@TVRFLY I agree that is what seems to have happened this gen. Everyone started off backing the wrong horse (see Titanfall). I know Insomniac wanted to keep the Sunset Overdrive IP and went with MS who allowed that but the game would have sold much better on PS4; all very well keeping an IP that actually isn't worth very much in terms of revenue. There has been a definite change in attitude from devs and publishers.

Tomb Raider Definitive not only sold better on PS4 than Xbox One but before the reboot originally released on last gen consoles in 2013 it was advertised almost as an Xbox 360 exclusive and still sold better on PS3! That's why it's an outrageously idiotic decision, but MS' $$$ are apparently worth more than those of SE's, and the Tomb Raider franchise's, real fanbase. Now, Sony pulled the same bs with Street Fighter V, which is equally annoying. I'm positive Capcom will find a work around for that though, it always does. Some kind of SF V Turbo or something. I'm not, however, confident that Rise of the Tomb Raider will show up on PS4, at least not in a timely manner. Kind of funny though, that move was made mostly to go head-to-head with Uncharted, now with Uncharted 4 pushed into 2016 SE looks even more dumb. What game do you think a lot of disappointed Uncharted fans might've looked towards this holiday? It'd be hilarious, if it wasn't so stupid.
how about some new IPs? Military style RPG? A new secret of mana? A new chrono trigger? Bravely default on ps machines?

I haven't played a FF in ages...oh well we're getting FF7, which I only played in French (and my French is bad) so um yeah I have no idea what happened in that game haha
FF 8 would be even better since that is my favorite PS1 FF game and the last time I played it was probably 13 years ago or so...

Dragon Quest VIII PS2 Classic and FFXIII HD Remaster then.
What I would love them to do is somehow port all main FF titles to the PS4. Also, porting KH1.5 and 2.5 as one package also for the PS4. Hmm... after that I guess I would other classics to be ported like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, etc.

A DQ spinoff and the announcement of a new entry in an RPG series that has been going downhill for a while... I'd rather have Rise of the Tomb Raider.

It's a business after all, so I'm not surprised, just disappointed. I'd love to know what MS offered them for this deal. If it was any other company I'd say it has to be insane to avoid the brand that has the series' most fans but this is SquareEnix, a company that thinks a port of a PC port is a 'huge' announcement, so it wouldn't shock me at all if it was a modest deal at best and SE just took it because it's SE.
