PlayStation Plus PS4 Sony

Sony's latched onto an incredible revenue stream with PlayStation Plus, but it's got to lock people into the subscription service to keep the cash flowing. It's already doing a decent job of that by giving away great games on a monthly basis as part of the membership, but it's also trying to show people what they're missing by holding free multiplayer weekends.

Timed to tie in with the release of Battlefield Hardline this week, the platform holder's announced that starting from 12:01AM PDT on Friday, 20th March through until 23:59 PDT on Sunday, 22nd March, you won't need to pay a penny to play your PlayStation 4 online. This appears to be a North America only initiative for now, as SCEE has run similar promotions independently in the past.

"Check out multiplayer modes for Battlefield Hardline such as Conquest and Hotwire, fight for Super Earth together with friends across the galaxy in Helldivers, or join your friends on strike missions with Destiny," said lead brand manager Anson Fong on the PlayStation Blog. What will you be playing? Let us know in the comments section below.
