Hands up

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has put Capcom's survival horror series back on track, and the Japanese publisher could be looking to capitalise with the next instalment in the popular series. According to a report by research firm Super Data, it expects to see an "upswing [in the digital games market] as the next editions of several major franchises like Halo and Resident Evil come out in the 2015 fall season". The report also mentions the heavily rumoured Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3.

It's been three years since the disappointing Resident Evil 6, so a sequel certainly seems within the realm of possibility. We haven't really heard any rumours regarding this, though, and it would be odd to follow up the excellent Revelations 2 almost immediately. Should this be real, we'll almost certainly see it at E3 in a few months – but we personally reckon that the next Resident Evil will be put on the backburner until at least 2016. We'll have to wait and see.
