The PlayStation 4's showing no signs of slowing down in its native Japan, as a slew of new releases are keeping the console at the top of the charts.
Sony's newest black box sold through 46,395 units last week – a relatively hefty increase from its tally of 33,862 units the week before. Helping it reach that impressive number was Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which took first place in the software charts, while Resident Evil: Revelations 2 shuffled into the second spot. Perhaps most surprising, though, is that Battlefield Hardline did incredibly well for itself, exploding into third place with 68,823 units sold. What's more, if you combine the shooter's PlayStation 3 sales with its performance on PlayStation 4, it's technically Japan's best selling title.

It's been an amazing little spell for the PS4 this, and the icing on the cake should be One Piece and Bloodborne next week. The big question now, though, is whether it can sustain itself, because things are about to dry up again.
PS4 is slaying it in Japan. Well everywhere actually. Poor Xbone. 😂
@Dohv Without rubbing salt in the wound, Xbox One's year-to-date so far in Japan is less than what the PS3 sold in this week's report. By some margin, too!
I'm just surprised Battlefield sold so well over there. Happy to see the Vita finally picking up serious steam.
Aahw i feel sorry for the japanese that they bought hardline! I thought final fantasy type 0 would do better! i want to play that game and the XV demo.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
Why don't they spend the money they're spilling on Japan on Europe one might wonder. The One is getting their ass handed to them in Europe, where I honestly believe they could be doing way better with the right marketing and a price cut.
But more and more we're starting to see how important a good start really is; I know quite some people who would actually prefer to buy a One, but go Playstation anyway because of the user base. And the second hand market for the One and its games is terrible too; I had CoD for both the One and the PS4 and after a week I put both up for sale...the PS4 copy sold for €45 within 24 hours, the One copy for €30 and it took 2 weeks.
I honestly believe Xbox could be bigger in big markets like Germany and France if they would just focus more on Europe. Now PS4 is outselling them 5:1 at best.
Nothing too surprising. Battlefield is actually pretty popular in Japan from what I hear from friends.
Really like the fact PS4 is selling that well. Hopefully it continues.
Did Japan get the FFXV demo w/ the game? Not saying it woudln't have sold well, just curios.
@rjejr was wondering the same thing .
Lol @ the console in 10th spot..
@rjejr
All those Japanese promos with FF XV at end? Probably.
@get2sammyb dont be too harsh they had a ten percent increase week to week. At this rate they could be on 600 units a week by Christmas. @Gamer83 fps dont sell well in Japan usually, but that's only as japanese gamers usually support their own companies and the uber propaganda tool famitsu rates them so lowly.
@Punished_Boss_84 - I don't think those have been getting a lot of tv time in the US All I keep seeing on tv is that blonde in the toga for that app game.
Xbox ONE's number are embarrassing
