If you thought that The Fine Bros' reaction videos were designed to make you feel old, then this latest clip has a much more contemporary vibe. In it, a rabble of teenagers play through the opening scene of The Last of Us, and it serves as a powerful reminder of just how touching Naughty Dog's creation can be, as they almost all battle against a bout of waterworks.
We should probably warn that if you haven't played the title yet, you'll find some serious spoilers below. Still, if you're looking for a reason to pick up the seminal PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 release, then this is about as good an advertisement as Sony could hope for. Can you think of a better introduction to a game than this?

Probably my favorite opening to a game alongside the Black Mesa introduction in the orginal Half Life.
I showed the intro to my mom just so she can see how emotional it is. She's always thought games were dumb but this had her jaw on the floor. She said "How can they have this in a game?" I said if they can have it in a movie why can't it be in a game? Games these days are basically interactive movies
Even though I've actively played through it twice before, and this time I'm just sitting here watching the same scene again, on a tiny computer screen at work, with the sound turned off, that still very nearly got me all over again.
I have to agree with @sub12 in that it definitely stands as one of the greatest (or at least most memorable) video game intros of all time. I'll never forget playing it for the first time, having made sure to pick it up on day 1 and avoided any and all spoilers going in. Absolutely blindsided me.
I have this game on my PS4 and I never owned it on PS3. Such an AMAZING game. This scene made me nearly cry every time I watched it. Really powerful! Can't wait for the sequel and movie.
These are the moments the absolutely CANNOT omit from the movie.
Tess was another tearjerking moment.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya What can they possibly cut to make the film!? It's all amazing and relevant to overall story?? I really think they are going to struggle.
@imtom2002 They can adapt areas and make them shorter, such as the walk to the hydro plant, the tube station apart from the key water area, maybe even the part in Bills town. But there are so many areas as you say, that are critical to the overall narrative.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya Bill was such a good character though! I even think they should try and fit some of the left behind story in there to flesh Ellie out more for the movie.
@imtom2002 I dont mean cut Bill, but slim down the running areas, just have the trap area and Bill, then the school for example.
I hope they do NOT add anything Ellie only to be honest, Left Behind was mediocre at best.
I wanted to hear their reactions!
Fun to watch. Technique reminds me of usability studies, though this was done after final product release. Since names are unknown, I particularly liked watching the 'girl in flannel' evolve from analytical critic to emotionally engaged player.
I've played thousands of games over the last 30 years and not one has effected me on an emotional level like The Last of Us did. Its one of the best games I've ever played and one I'll never forget, trade or sell.
Heart-wrenching intro. What a game.
That scene is pretty unforgettable.
Yep, this got me on a number of occasions, as a dad of daughters it's your worst nightmare. Powerful stuff.
Got me choked when I first played it..... and every time I see it again. No game has had me invest such emotion in such a short space of time before, amazing.
Still get emotional when I see that scene, Love TLOU was the first PS4 game my parents actually liked.
I still need to play this game myself, just waiting until I got $30 to spare.
