Well, this is different, isn't it? Robert Ramsey's typically your host for any sort of Japanese gaming news, but with him busy tucking into his Sunday Dinner – sans parsnips, we suspect – it's down to this editor to report on One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3's custom PlayStation 4. Announced in Japan overnight, the model – which will be sold exclusively at the Sony Store – includes a custom hard drive cover sporting Luffy, Sabo, and Ace. We honestly quite like it.
There's also a new trailer for the title – what feels like the tenth this week – which shows off a fusion of cut-scenes and gameplay from the forthcoming release. We'll let you come up with your own commentary in the comments section, because this author has already run out of things to say. They have funny eyes in this series, don't they? Shrugs.

I don't know but these "custom" PS4 consoles just come off as pretty lazy and cheap. They seem reminiscent of the old Xbox 360 faceplates but even those were better than Sony's current attempts. Still, it's better than what was available for PS3 (nothing). So far though, as far as custom special edition consoles/controllers are concerned, it looks like Xbox One has the better offerings. Still waiting on a good reason/deal to get a PS4...
@FlipNiggle
There are some really nice special edition PS3s, we just never see them in Europe. And it seems the same goes for these, which I just can't understand. Why don't they offer us some faceplates to change up the "theme" of our console? Times are different than back when Xbox offered those faceplates and people start "connecting" more and more to the games they play; it's become more of a lifestyle instead of just a hobby, let our consoles represent that!
I for one would almost buy a faceplate for every game I buy and what's easier than making Collecter's Editions with exclusive faceplates?? I honestly believe I'm not alone in this.
Nintendo made such a smart move with their coverplates where in just a month's time, I already gathered 10 faceplates, with 6 more on their way and 2 in the preorder: that's more than what my n3ds cost! Sure, it sounds insane, and it kinda is, but we have multiple n3dss so the kids can use them too. But I change the look of my n3ds every other day, rotating cover plates with my wife and kids, and it's such a good way to keep your console fresh. In all the years I play 3ds or vita on the train to work, not once was I complimented about my handheld. Now with this new cover plates I had 3 people already telling me how they liked my gameboy and even a woman in her 60s or 70s asking me wherever did I get that "gameboy" with the princess on it? (I'm in touch with my sexuality...and I happen to like the peach cover plate a lot )
Would definitely buy the faceplate if it was sold separately and in the US
Correct me if I'm wrong since I don't have a PS4 yet but can't the faceplate's slid on and off pretty easily? If so I'm surprised there aren't more custom ones sold separately.
@Splat You are correct, you also need to remove it if you decide to swap out your hard drive for something that'll fit more than 10 game installs, maybe people should make their own face plates...
as I already have a PS4 no I wouldn't but if they released the faceplate by it's self I would so buy that
