Ever since its initial reveal, we've been desperately waiting on word of Dragon Quest Heroes heading West, and today, publisher Square Enix has given us our first hint that the hack and slasher may be journeying overseas.
Japanese publication Game Watch questioned the company at the recent Taipei Game Show, and regarding a Western release, Square Enix's Ryutaro Ichimura stated that he'd love to "spread [Dragon Quest Heroes] even further around the world", after seeing gamers react positively to the announcement of a Chinese launch.
The title is being developed by Omega Force, the studio behind Dynasty Warriors, and, from what we can tell, looks incredibly pretty. Are you ready to raise sword and shield for an overseas launch? March with us in the comments section below.

While you're at it SE localise Rocket Slime 3 as well.
It's not happening.
I hope so, but we are also waiting for a release of DQVII on 3DS and DQ I-III on a proper system with proper controls not the android version we have at the moment and if they won't give us those no matter how much we ask what are the chances of getting this?
I really hope this does happen..if not I might have to take a look at the Chinese version..In the past I've bought a few Chinese versions of Japanese ps3 games simply because they were in English..except for the writing on the box and most of the manual 😝
I think chances are higher because of it being handled by Tecmo-Koei in addition to SE. We don't usually miss out on Omega Force games, and Square-Enix would love that money and to troll DQ fans that really want anything at this point. They might even use that awful "testing the waters for fan reception" excuse with a title that won't kill them financially as it's not exactly developed by them, merely licensed.
@FullbringIchigo for all that it's annoying they won't port it to a proper portable cough Vita cough cough I still can't help but be incredibly impressed that they have successfully ported DQVIII on to Android. I mean, that game was HUGE on PS2, and I'm assuming nothing's been cut (other than the ridiculous forced portrait viewing angle).
Seeing things like that just makes me desperate to get Vita versions of classics like DQVIII, Rogue Galaxy (this in particular), the XenoSaga games etc. If phones can handle DQVIII, there's no question Vita could easily have handled all sorts of great PS2 era rpgs if the support had been there for it!
@SteveButler2210 I would love Rouge Galaxy on the Vita that game was great and highly underrated
also yeah it is impresive that they got DQVIII on android now I havn't played it because I still have it on PS2 but apparently they did cut some voice overs from it
@FullbringIchigo yeah man Rogue Galaxy is right up there as one of my favourite RPGs of that gen, probably of all time really. It's such a shame it performed so poorly, especially seeing as it had such widespread critical success (I don't remember reading a single negative review). The only criticism I ever had of it was it had a bad tendency towards relentlessly re-using environments - copycat corridors were annoying after a while.
Thing is, other games like it which released to poor sales first time round have done well with remasters this gen (eg Okami, Ico & SotC), so I still think that with the right marketing push this could do well. It's almost certain to never happen, but I can dream! Even if they don't remaster, I think there should be much more of a push than there has been to get all of the big PS2 rpg's added to the classics section of the PSN.
Considering Hyrule Warriors actually sold pretty well and has been well received on the limited Wii U install base I would think DQH would do well on both PS3 and PS4. I mean the games are already made, right? Just translate them and sell them in the west, how many copies do they need to sell to cover the cost of translation?
@rjejr
All because of the Zelda skin, other Warriors games don't have the luxury of having their figures inflated because of it.
And this is Square Enix, the trollish company.
@Punished_Boss_84 - Yeah, but the DQ games should still help, though that Wii on rails game left a lot to be desired. They keep bringing the Gundam warriors games over on PS3, 1,2,3 and 4, surely these would sell as well as those, no?
Id buy it if they brought it western.
DO IT
i'd love to play a current gen Dragon Quest console game, so yes pls localize it.
