Bandai Namco's hunting reissue God Eater 2: Rage Burst caused PlayStation Vita sales to explode in Japan last week, as Media Create data shows that the handheld moved 35,203 units, up from a dismal 10,901 units the period prior. The game itself sold 234,180 copies on Sony's portable console, but could only muster 37,824 copies on the PlayStation 4.
Still, it was not a bad week for the PlayStation maker's flagship format, with The Order: 1886 moving 25,023 copies, and Dead or Alive 5: Last Round selling 24,457 copies. This pushed PS4 sales up ever so slightly, with the system selling 24,737 units for the week ending 22nd February. The platform holder will be hoping that Dragon Quest Heroes takes things even further in the next report.
It's going to prove a pivotal few months for the PS4 overseas, with dozens of heavy hitting titles in the device's release pipeline. The problem that it faces is that few of them are exclusive to the next-gen platform, but their combined clout should move the needle for the machine. With the system on fire overseas, it's only a matter of time, right?

Those Xbox One numbers...
@thedevilsjester
A substantial increase.
Is it no coming here
Good to see Vita is back to the top
Good to see the vita on top. There's no better way to play ffx. Hopefully now with the hardware on the rise we will see even more quality jp games over here. The 3ds is a killer machine over in Japan, games are winning out and its great to see.
@themcnoisy 3DS is dead, there is nothing on 3DS? maybe you think all of AAA and big names are coming to 3DS, you only see the sells! its not the only point if it is your point then all of PS4 and XBOXOne games should port to 3DS (yeah there's money WOWWWW!) so leave it, but Vita is powerful in the hardware and still can support some of PS3 titles in the past or same engines, we already saw that before. so we hope to see more and new big titles on Vita soon and in the japan from big companies such as Konami, Capcom, Namco, Koei Tecmo,...i would like to see Ninja Gaiden 3 or Tekken soon.
@italodance I meant 3ds sells well in Japan. I dont use the 3ds even though my kids have got one each so I think we are on the same wavelength. but I agree that I would love to see some more AAA titles on the vita.
We need to get at least the PS4 version of God Eater 2 here in the West. It looks great.
