It's been rumoured for a little while, but Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Toukiden: Kiwami will lop body parts off a slew of all-new Oni on the PlayStation 4 and Vita imminently. The updated re-release will be available from 27th March in Europe in both physical and digital formats, and 31st March in North America. Start sharpening those swords, slayers.
The update will come with double the content of Toukiden: The Age of Demons, including the core campaign, along with an extra storyline equivalent to the original in size. This takes place about three months after the battle to prevent the Awakening, and will include various returning characters such as Ōka, Hayatori, and more.
Of course, it would be a pretty dull re-release without new gear and enemies, and there'll be fresh co-operative moves for you to employ, as well as previously undiscovered Oni to slay, and new Mitama, items, and weapons to obtain. There'll also be tougher missions for you to complete if you thought that the original release was a bit of a breeze.
And don't worry if you've already invested hundreds of hours into the main Monster Hunter-esque escapade, as you'll be able to bring your data forward into the re-release – although it's unclear whether you'll be able to transfer from the Vita to the PS4. While we try to find that out, though, check out the anime trailer below which sets the new story's scene.

Update: Community manager Chin Soon Sun has confirmed that you can transfer your save data from Toukiden: Age of Demons on the Vita to the PS4.

i purposely held out against the original release due to them registering the trademark so i will get it now the ps4 version is just icing on the cake
Well I didnt like the first version,I only tried the demo although, but I'm gonna buy this cause the same thing happened to Soul Sacrifice, I didnt like that too until Soul Sacrifice Delta released with better image quality and it was amazing on Vita .
Btw so they prefer PS4 to PSP for releasing,what a smart move.
I was gonna buy it on vita but I guess I'll get it on ps4 now.
Part of me likes that this is coming to PS4: the other part has a sinking feeling about his Vita becoming less useful. (To clarify I never got the game for Vita already.)
I think this would reflect poorly on the Vita if it was only coming out on the PS4. The fact that it's own both suggests that they just want to appeal to as many people as possible to me.
I really liked the first game, put about 60 hours into it overall, so it's great that I can carry over my progress. Looking forward to trying out the new weapon types, too.
@get2sammyb
Come on! You set someone up for that. PS4 is having a killer year tho, due to these localisations needing um more exposure.
I may get it for PS4
@get2sammyb it was an exclusive game on Vita first,what is this about PS4?!?? It's a port from Vita to PS4.
That's it.
Finally!
@Punished_Boss_84 Typical meme throwing straw man arguments, eh boss? You have got some catching up to do.
@Enobmah_Shards
Thats Square Enix's holiday card for 2014, not a meme thing. If you're going to troll a joke post at least be accurate.
@Punished_Boss_84 So punished boss? Do you want to admit that you Don't own a Vita and you are using a channel Uncharted2007 to hype vita games while badmouthing a Sony product?
@Enobmah_Shards
And this is linked Toukiden how?
@Punished_Boss_84 Just admit that you just hype vita games on your channel and there won't be all kinds of heat on you and I won't bug you no more.
@Enobmah_Shards
But the thing is, I don't run a YT channel. Thats the little fact you keep ignoring.
But hey if you want me to lie, I won't.
I think we will start to see a lot of the big Vita games released on PS4 over here. It will be Vita for the Japanese market and PS4 for the Western market. By doing it on cross-buy then both markets are tapped.
If cross-buy is the only way to get games like Phantasy Star Nova released in the West then so be it.
@Punished_Boss_84 Sorry for all the troubles and I want to share my appreciation with this:
Edit: Okay that did not work out like I planned for that image but it was a SpongeBob Rainbow meme and the captions said All we need is... World Peace! You get the idea.
Sammy, how do you post images on this site like a code thingy? I am having trouble.
@Enobmah_Shards It's [ img ]URL HERE[ /img ] without the spaces. I just edited your comment doing so, but it looks like the image that you linked doesn't work.
And can we stay on topic now guys, thanks!
@Enobmah_Shards: That was totally uncalled for and unnecessary derailment of this thread. Now I don't know what your problem is but you need to stop seriously. If you keep this kind of thing up and you know what I am talking about then you will be getting a time out for awhile. Consider this a warning.
Now as @ShogunRok has said let's stay on topic.
Was there another toukiden game besides age of demons?
Will this game also come to NA in physical format for PS Vita?
@get2sammyb
Starting to think the same will happen with Gravity Rush 2, a release on both PS4 and Vita. And if that happens, I'll buy both versions just to support the series.
But as far as this game, horrible planning on the release date, great that there's a PS4 version but it comes out around the same time as Bloodborne.
I never picked up the first one because I knew this was going to happen. Same crap with Soul Sacrifice Delta.
Anyway, I'll pick this up on a sale or with the possible PS+ IGC inclusion, MH4U will be keeping me company in March instead.
