It seems like Capcom's not even going to bother waiting to see if its forthcoming Resident Evil re-release is successful, as it appears to be lining up a remastered version of divisive GameCube prequel Resident Evil Zero as we type. Eagle eyed fans spotted the game's icon on a PlayStation 4 dashboard image, which the publisher is using to promote the free theme that comes with pre-orders for its aforementioned REmake retread.
While it's far from an official confirmation, it seems strange that the company would include the title's emblem without plans to port it to Sony's next-gen machine. Should it get the go-ahead, we'd also expect to see protagonists Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen appear on the PlayStation 3. The question is: would you like to see this title mix some herbs on more modern hardware? Try to survive in the comments section below.

It would be a good idea to do so. Why not both? Both REmake and RE0 were only released on Gamecube and Wii. If RE4 and the RE Chronicles games (which contains RE1 and RE0 stories) can be ported to PS3, why not the REmake and RE0. Makes a good way to make some money and make some fans happy and introduce to some newer fans.
It probably quicker to do the same work for RE0 as was done on REmake since Capcom just has to use the same tools and whatever else to apply the same additions.
I hope so as and long as it gets a physical release too so I can put it on my shelf with all the others
Resi 2 and nemesis would be great
Eh, these companies are getting a little over zealous with the remakes.
If they are going to remaster something then it should be Dragon’s Dogma...
Gives me hope for shenmue...
I actually liked this game, even if others didn't. I figured this was coming once they announced the RE remake for PS3/PS4. Nice.
Zero tolerance for REmakes/REmasters is developing further as time goes on.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi You just know Sega are stupid enough to remaster every game they've ever made... apart from Shenmue one and two.
Why not? A generation of young gamers never got the chance to play it back then!
Besides it was a pretty decent RE game!
@Punished_Boss_84 I really don't know why, though. It's not like they take resources away from new projects, and no one's forced to buy them...
@rastamadeus it's probably just superstitious nonsense I reckon, considering what happened to Sega last time they released the game. Its getting a little silly now considering the game would sell plenty just from a straight port. No it isn't straight forward but it still must be cheaper than churning out a new game for x franchise vol VIII.
Yep, Im sure they'll make these suck and release them yearly. I bet this series will be comparable to assassins creed.
I'd pick this one up. I really liked the use of switching characters to solve puzzles.
@get2sammyb
That's not what the people are thinking though!
@Punished_Boss_84 thing is as this was only ever released on gamcube and never on playstation, surly this would be the instance you would want a remaster
I was actually hoping for a remake/remaster of Resident Evil the Directors Cut as I loved that on the Gamecube. I couldn't get into Resident Evil Zero. Maybe I'll give it another try.
@FullbringIchigo
Surely, sure. But just look at the comments of any REmaster article.
Wish people would stop complaining about remasters. They don't take away from new game development. They make the publishers money that can be spent on new games. They bring great games to fans who wouldn't otherwise be able to play them. They also future proof games that would die out much sooner otherwise. For example imagine if last of us 2 comes out on ps4 and last of us remastered had never happened. People who had a ps4 but not ps3 would never have been able to get into the franchise, negatively affecting the sequels sales.
This is great news if true, I hope it's also around $20 New though, assuming it's also a digital only PSN release.
@PorllM That's very true, not everyone can afford to buy both a PS3 and PS4, or just a PS4 without selling their PS3.
@FullbringIchigo
Yea these RE Gamecube games are WAY different than a remaster of Tomb Raider or something that just came out on PS3 2 yrs ago.
So yea, you are right, these are the types of remasters that are a good thing.
Great News, I never got a chance to play it since I never owned a Game Cube or a Wii... I don´t understand why people complain about a game being made available to a broader audience, that´s just selfish
