Super Time Force Ultra PS4

Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida’s meteoric rise to celebrity may have reached its natural conclusion this week, as the executive has been added as a playable character in the PlayStation 4 and Vita versions of Capy’s madcap action platformer, Super Time Force Ultra. As the trailer below indicates, the executive will use his Xperia smartphone as a weapon, shooting down bad guys with Tweets.

“Concerning the often-misguided exploits of a rag-tag bunch of time travelling lunatics, [this game] is a crazy romp through the space-time continuum,” explained co-founder Nathan Vella on the PlayStation Blog. “Using a Mega Man-style world select, players can jump in and out of six unique time periods with a ton of different modes, playable characters, and collectibles.” But that’s not necessarily the best bit.

“Though the game is crammed to the brim with action, explosions, and lotsa’ dumb jokes, the real star of STFU is the Time-Out mechanic: players can stop time, rewind through the level, and jump back into the action with a new character,” he continued. “At this point, you’re playing with yourself, blasting alongside your previous lives, collaborating with them in a glorious collage of mayhem that we call: single-player co-op.”

We heard great things about this when it launched on the PC and Xbox earlier in the year, so we can’t wait for it to turn back time in 2015 on Sony’s machines. The inclusion of Yoshida as a playable character is just the icing on the cake as far as we’re concerned.
