You wait years for a glimpse of Final Fantasy XV, and then Square Enix starts dropping gameplay clips like they’re going out of fashion. This latest ten minute demo was revealed as part of an hour-long video posted to the publisher’s YouTube channel, and shows Noctis and crew scaling the release’s enormous open world.
In truth, gas stations and elephant-esque animals aside, the sandbox does seem decidedly deserted – but that doesn’t matter too much, as what’s there looks absolutely stunning to say the least. There’s no combat in the clip, though the wildlife does look hostile – we don’t fancy taking on one of those gigantic creatures wading around in water.
Are you impressed by what you’ve seen of this game so far? Are you worried that the world may end up being a bit empty? Refill your tank in the comments section below.

The game looks so pretty and dat soundtrack is simply beautiful.
Although I'm immediately reminded that this game looks like a road trip sasuage fest gone wrong.
so looking forward to this game and Type-0 too I must hope we get Agito as well at some point
I just think of it as a bigger more interractive world map. World maps in JRPG's have always been rather empty but I guess to those that are unfamiliar with JRPG's may mistake FFVX's world map for an open world.
I've been anticipating FFVX's launch since it was announced 7 or so years ago as FF:versusXIII. As a FF fan I totally stoked for this game, I was disappointed with the FFXIII series it felt as if SE was forcing FFXIII down our throats.
The world is huge. Jeez. Looks great. Havent been interested in ff since ffx. Well thats not true, i want to try relm reborn eventually. Looking forward to playing this
Looks pretty but REMARKABLY uninteresting
Xenoblade Chronicles X looks infinite times more interesting in a much weaker hardware, way to go Square, whats up with all that wasted space...
but considering their lastest efforts i dont think we can expect much more
More i see the more i cant wait to get stuck into this. Looks amazing. Has an interesting set of characters, open world and a very interesting looking battle system. Of all the games slated to come out, this is the one i'm looking forward to the most.
@Faruko while im very much looking forward to xenoblade chronicles, i loved xenoblade a lot. I dont have a lot of faith in square either, I havent since ffx. But to me i think this looks a lot more like how square used to be before enix came into the name. What do you feel is wasted? If that part of the map looks that huge, the rest of the world must be massive. Seems like the hardware of the ps4 is being used nicely.
I'm impressed by what I've seen thus far. The world looks amazing, and I can't wait to see more. I know it seems there's a bit of emptiness, but there needs to be a bit of a balance between exploration and the combat. I mean, not everyone wants to have fight their way through just for a bit of exploring, so a couple empty spots won't hurt a thing.
@Subie98 I strongly recommend a realm reborn, it's by far the best main series entry in years! Still not a patch on the old classics (I just started replaying VI yesterday morning and forgot how amazing it is), but a vast improvement on the travesty that was the XIII subseries.
@Subie98 what im saying is that it look lifeless, thats what im talking about when i say "wasted space"
The world can be as huge as they want them to be, but if its filled with boring uninteresting stuff its just wasted space
thats why Skyrim, Fallout NV, etc... are so great, huge worlds but filled with stuff to do
Still a year untill release so im giving the benefit of the doubt
Looks superb, but I too am worried about how deserted it looks. That said, there's no combat in this video, and as such, you'd probably be fighting a lot of these creatures to keep things interesting.
Can't wait to see more, to be honest.
Allot of empty space ala destiny, all these years in development and nothing to do, what a waste
I've never been into the FF series due to the turn based combat. I have heard that this one has real time combat so I'll keep an eye on it whilst we wait to see more. To be honest though, I don't like the character design at all! Stupid hairstyles and don't get me started on there clothing issues.
The only RPG that has me excited is The Witcher 3 and that game can't come soon enough.
Pretty meh.
Looks really good, like REALLY GOOD. DAMN GOOD!! Can i say damn??
@Faruko good to know @SteveButler2210 but we dont know that it doesnt have much too do. At least yet. Fingers crossed.
@WARDIE its not stupid hairstyles. If you dont like the hair better stick to western rpgs. This is how jrpgs are. Its not going to change either.
@Subie98 Actually, yes the hairstyles do look stupid. Don't take it personal, unless you have your hair in that style pmsl. Im alound to give my own opinion and thats what I did, like it or not.
@WARDIE Yeah, but making fun of their hairstyles is kind of stupid.
@Shellybird27 If thats your idea of making fun of something then you're the stupid one. To make fun of something is to laugh at a negative ie To make said person or persons feel bad, (which was clearly never my intention) to make yourself look good. I was making an observation, which I also said, was my opinion, as is my right.
@WARDIE way to be defensive about nothing. Clearly you put tone to text that wasnt there. I was letting you know its not stupid, that its been Japanese style more than likely before you were born. That if you're new to jrpgs that its best to avoid them, that western aren't styled that way. If you dont like a long going art style that wont change, avoid it instead of complaining. Great job, guy. And no my hair isnt like that, thats absurd.
@Subie98 Yeah, of course you was...
@Kuroji4992 Just so you know, it's XV not VX
@tom189 Thanks for correcting my little typo.
