"We've come about the broken game"

It occurred to us earlier this evening that Ubisoft could, in theory, blame Assassin’s Creed Unity’s various bugs and glitches on a fault in the Animus – providing it with the perfect plot device to explain away the title’s terrible launch. Fortunately, the French firm isn’t doing that, and is instead working around the clock to fix the game – as it should.

That’s resulted in a brand new PlayStation 4 patch, which is available to download right now. This fixes a number of key flaws, including protagonist Arno Dorian falling through the floor. It also prevents crashes from occurring during co-op sessions, and will supposedly stop you from getting “stuck in a hay cart next to the Pantheon in the Bièvre district”. Seriously.

The one thing that it doesn’t fix, however, is the title’s framerate, which is still being worked on at the time of typing. The publisher has recommended playing offline to improve things, but Digital Foundry has since found that this doesn’t really make much of a difference at all. Still, at least steady progress is being made, huh?
