One of the new Strikes' ugly alien bosses

If you thought that Destiny's story was a bit of an unfulfilling mess, then you'll be delighted to know that developer Bungie aims to craft a better narrative with the title's first expansion, The Dark Below.

Talking to Eurogamer.net, studio president Harold Ryan states that the downloadable content has "a very different approach to telling a new story." He goes on to say that "it's going to feel much more loot driven and story driven in that it's going to feel faster-paced with more action as you go through it, and with exposition." We suppose that sounds slightly better than the core game's disjointed plot, although having said that, you could also label your Ghost's meaningless comments as 'exposition'. Or perhaps we're just cynical.

"Have you done the Thorn exotic quest?" Ryan asks the online publication. "So, looking at how the exotic quests work, like the Thorn quest, was the inspiration for how we're attempting to tell the story in this expansion." For those out of the loop, exotic quests typically see you completing a series of objectives for specific characters based in the tower in order to nab a powerful new weapon. And, judging from Ryan's comments, it seems like that same process will be applied to The Dark Below's three story missions.

Moving away from the narrative, Ryan also details the DLC's other features, which include two new strikes — one of which is a PlayStation exclusive — and a fresh raid to try your luck at. Will you be diving into more Destiny content in the coming months? Fight off three waves of enemies as your Ghost unlocks the comments section below.
