We got our very first look at the Warriors-Dragon Quest mash-up that is Dragon Quest Heroes during Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference at the beginning of the month, and now, unsurprisingly, the time has come to feast our eyes on some direct gameplay.
The footage is fresh from the aforementioned expo that's going on right now in the land of the rising sun, and boy is it colourful. Unlike most musou games, the battlefield is flooded with numerous different beasts, ranging from cute little slimes to giant golems. It's looking largely like your standard Warriors fare, but there are some subtle Dragon Quest touches, too. For example, we're liking the damage numbers that pop up after every hit, and the quirky sound effects do a great job of tying the game into one of Japan's biggest franchises.

I like watching Japanese gaming events because they show their excitement, while us westerns try to be all cool and calm.
But this game looks great.
I really hope this gets a westen release
@FullbringIchigo The only possible way it won't is if Hyrule Warriors doesn't sell. I know its a different console but if a Zelda game in the series can't sell then no matter what console it's on a Dragon Quest one won't sell in Europe.
@rastamadeus Shouldn't make a difference - Square Enix is publishing this, so it'll largely be down to them. Koei Tecmo will have a say in it, but I don't think they'll be looking at Hyrule Warriors as an indicator, not when Zelda is already and established franchise in the West.
I hope everyone else gets it, not just japan. Id like to play it.
Oh god its one of those boring Dynasty Warrior skin games. Interest completely lost.
still interested. Looks like some stupid button mashing fun! (And I mean that in a good way)
@Dohv so much "smh",going on from me right now.
But anyways, hope this gets a localizaton.
Don't really care much for this. I want the turn based Dragon Quest game back, but than again I'm most likely in the minority that likes turn based with open world exploring.
Wait... Fake applause AGAIN?!
I'd never played a DQ game, so as much as I'm going to get flogged for this, I might just use this as an entry point into the series.
