It actually looks quite appetising

While a splurge of new PlayStation Vita titles were announced at the pre-Tokyo Game Show conference, it's clear Sony has at least one of its eyes set on luring the female demographic to make the upgrade from the now defunct PSP. To help with this feat, it's announced the upcoming release of a special light pink and white Vita — a unique colour scheme that'll supposedly make it easier to colour co-ordinate with your accessories. While many are laughing this off as a move that's destined to fail tremendously, the reality could be quite the opposite.

The reveal of the console alone may not be enough to woo the crowd, but a handful of new titles might just do the trick. While the otome genre — or male dating games — may only have Hakuoki and Sweet Fuse in the West, they are a mere drip in the pool of titles that are released in Japan every month. Things ramp up this Christmas, too, with the HD remake of Bakamatsu Rock, an edo-period rhythm game where rebels fight against the Shinsengumi in an epic battle of the bands. Newly announced titles are set to join in as well, with a re-release of classic romance-'em-up Neo Romance to celebrate its 20th anniversary, along with the latest in the smash hit Uta no Prince Sama franchise, which is about a girl who composes music for a boyband. As a genre that tends to lag behind on older consoles for as long as possible, this appears to be a clear message from the Japanese giant.

Sony has gone all in trying to appeal to the female market, but do you think it will work? Leave your reaction in the comments section below.
