As anticipated, Yakuza Zero: Chikai no Basho will take you back to a time before protagonist Kazuma Kiryu was an orphanage owner or taxi driver. The prequel is set in Kamurocho in December 1988, and will depict a turf war over the land required to build Millennium Tower. It’ll also serve as a coming of age story for the aforementioned hero, who gets dragged into a murder plot – presumably, if we’re reading between the lines well enough, carried out by the ADD afflicted Majima Goro.
Judging by the screenshots, Kamurocho has been given a slightly retro face lift, which we suppose suits its 80s setting. The lead characters have also been kitted out in some even worse clothing than previous instalments, and slimmed down to make them look younger. Of course, even if the plot summary above has piqued your interest, you’re never going to play this game unless you can speak Japanese, because the ageing Yakuza 5 still hasn’t made its way overseas yet. Yeah, we’re still pretty bitter about that, too.

Love Kazuma's younger look, they've captured it well. I bet there are a good few Easter eggs from the 80s in the Kamurocho arcades!
Thanks Sega.
@ShogunRok I don't like younger Kazuma. He looks wrong if you ask me.
@get2sammyb Whaaaat? I think he looks perfect. Has a bit more of a punk's face, and doesn't look as mellow as his older years made him. Could be interesting!
wished it was set in yokosuka , november 29th 1986 . ( know what i'm saying ?)
@eliotgballade YES!
@eliotgballade
Nice to see I am not the only one. Why is it so hard, Sega?
@sinalefa Not the only one? Half the Internet has been crying out for it for what feels like forever!
Unfortunately I think this is about as close as we're likely to get -https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014/08/this_is_what_shenmue_would_look_like_on_the_ps4
