Trust us, Ratchet – you don't want to be like Qwark

Being one of PlayStation's flagship franchises, Ratchet & Clank has always been ripe for the possibility of being adapted to an animated movie. So, fans of the wacky space adventures of the famous Lombax and robot praised the heavens when a CGI animated film was announced last year, shown with a teaser that captured the unique humour Insomniac Games has provided since the days of Spyro The Dragon. Fast forward a year and it's safe to say that the movie is still on course for a 2015 release with a new trailer.

Besides a broader look at the immaculate art direction and flawlessly smooth animation on display here, the newest trailer gives us a better idea of what to expect in the way of the film's story premise, which seems to be set at an earlier time in Ratchet's life when he admired the hilariously vain Captain Qwark. Several quick glimpses are shown of Ratchet flying his spaceship, outrunning a series of foes, and so forth.

As a shocking side point, a PS4 remake of the original Ratchet & Clank will coincide with the movie's release as well, which will feature completely revamped environments and a graphical overhaul, despite the fairly recent release of the Ratchet & Clank Collection.

Are you planning on attending the debut of the Ratchet & Clank film at your local cinema? What do you think of the broader look at the plot and animation in the new trailer? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments section down below.
