If platform holder Sony was sitting around a roulette wheel, it would have placed all of its chips on Activision’s first-person shooter Destiny. The manufacturer has been promoting Bungie’s ambitious escapade as if it were an exclusive, and the company expects the title – alongside the likes of The Last of Us: Remastered, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, FIFA 15, and Far Cry 4 – to be the PlayStation 4’s biggest system seller this Christmas.

“If I had to pick one, it’d probably be Destiny,” explained SCEE boss Jim Ryan in an interview with CVG. “We’re partnered up with Activision on that. The intensity and depth that the two organisations are working at is something that I’ve never seen before. Both really want to make this work in a really serious way.”

He continued: “The game is obviously multiformat, so it will be out on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360, as it will be on the PlayStation 3. But I think, certainly in our eyes, the main prize is the PS4 version of the game. We want to make that absolutely enormous.”

And the firm’s certainly going the right way about it. During its E3 2014 press conference earlier this week, the company announced a ‘Glacier White’ hardware bundle, which will include a limited edition console and a copy of the game. Moreover, the title’s set to get an exclusive alpha on Sony’s next-gen machine, while additional content will be included in the PlayStation version, which you won’t be able to play anywhere else. The big question is, though: will the game be good enough?
