Not every superhero needs a car – but all of the best ones possess one anyway. The Dark Knight is no different, and as evidenced by the embedded imagery exclusively revealed by Game Informer magazine, the Batmobile will play a pivotal role in Batman: Arkham Knight. Accidentally unveiled by UK retailer GAME mere moments ago, the sequel will mark the “explosive finale” to Rocksteady Studios’ superhero series – and will launch PlayStation 4 later this year.
What impact will the Caped Crusader’s car have on the tried-and-tested gameplay, though? Well, it’ll enable you to navigate the game’s enormous open world for starters. “An entirely new area of Gotham City, far larger than Arkham City, has much wider streets to accommodate the new driving gameplay that is designed to integrate smoothly with Batman's gliding and grappling traversal,” explains the magazine’s description.
You’ll find 14 full pages on the next-gen sequel in the latest issue of the publication, which you can order through here. Meanwhile, a four-minute debut trailer is supposedly on the way, so keep your Bat Signal set to red alert. In the meantime, check out the moody artwork within this article – and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

I can't properly express how hyped up I am for this. I love the Arkham games, even Origins. All I can say is whenever it's released, I'm there day one. Wonder if Sony will be trying to strike up any deals with WB for some PS4 content similar to what it did last-gen?
I've wanted to drive the Batmobile for eons and now I finally can, I just wonder how Rocksteady will use the trackpad.
Probably the reason I didn't jump on the previous arkham games. How can it be batman without the batmobile? Its not like he has tons of super powers to draw on. Awesome though. Day one for me, I don't think they can mess this up.
@BornOfEvil I swear there was a game where you could drive the Batmobile. Hang on, I'm going to have to search YouTube - I think it was Batman Begins.
Yep, here you go. It was terrible:
@get2sammyb: The SNES version of Batman Returns also had a level where you drove the Batmoblie.
@get2sammyb Ew.
Needless to say, hopefully Rocksteady can do much more justice to the Batmobile than these two games posted here. I'm sure they can.
