No console is complete without a release starring Marvel’s greatest web-head, and fortunately the PlayStation 4 is set to get its first this Spring with The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Like its predecessor, this sequel is loosely based upon the impending movie, but is set within its own continuity with unique villains – including the raspy Kraven the Hunter, who puts in an appearance in this brand new trailer.
It seems that the Russian villain is going to attempt to turn our hero’s head, but we suspect that ol’ Spidey will end up kicking his moustachioed mug somewhere into next week. With the game also due out on the PlayStation 3, we’re not exactly expecting this to push Sony’s new super machine – an opinion arguably justified by the rough footage embedded below.
Nevertheless, the sandbox Manhattan setting should offer some respite from inFAMOUS: Second Son’s drizzly Seattle – and let’s be honest, developer Beenox has proved itself pretty adept at putting together a decent superhero game of late. Are you ready to get wrapped up in this release, or is your spider-sense detecting a stinker? Crawl up the wall in the comments section below.

Love me a good spidey game! I hope this one is profoundly good, but if not, then at least extremely fun.
The last Spidey game I played was on the original Xbox One, and I found it fairly enjoyable. This one is looking pretty good, so I'll be keeping my eye on it.
Havnt played a spiderman game since the legendary Spiderman 2 on ps2.....those were the days
Speaking of the first one it's still $50 in the US on PSN. It was released on Jun 26 2012...
Seeing the disaster known as spiderman vita port... I really don't want this ported to vita
I'll just remote play this instead
This looks really good. I think it if they can improve from the last game, this really has potential. I think I might get this on PS4 if the reviews are good.
I wonder if the old new costume will be unlockable.
Hope it's got a good, not too grinding trophy list.
Still looks like the old "megadrive" game to me...
This game seriously need a reboot with some better graphics and gameplay like the Batman series...
It looks exactly like the original game, which isn't to say is bad. I just hope the missions won't last up to 3 hours with no mid-mission saving.
I've not played a spiderman game since the megadrive. I think I'll wait for a full next gen experience unless this one is actually amazing.
@rijahs I'd like to see your MegaDrive.
It's a shame that the benchmark Spidey game, superhero game actually (arkhams don't count, it's just sneak & hit gameplay for the most part) is the Spidey 2 movie game. Even now, it just had the best Web swinging. I look forward to the comparisons.
@KALofKRYPTON You talking about the Spiderman 2 game on Ps2/Xbox/Cube? I have fond memories of that one. Swinging around Manhattan, beating up muggers & delivering pizza's on the side. Good times. To be honest I dont think Ive played a Spiderman game since then either. May have to try one of these new ones...
@MadchesterManc That's the one! I had Spider-Man 3 for about half an hour before I took it back, it was just awful to look at, and listen to, and play...
I had a go on the demo for Amazing, seemed alright, but the Web swinging isn't as good as (raimi) 2.
@KALofKRYPTON That was a little bit of 'exaggeration', I know. Just meant to say that there is still no 'punch' in the game to play it yet...
