As the sun sets on another month, Sony is teasing the bevy of bandwidth busting PlayStation Plus content that is set to occupy your greedy hard-drive over the winter weeks. Several smash hits are set to join the Instant Game Collection in Europe imminently, with the highlight being Ninja Theory's divisive (but amazing) DmC: Devil May Cry. The swashbuckling slash-'em-up will be available for free from 24th December, meaning that you'll be able to spend Christmas Day with Dante and his dodgy haircut.
Also poised to stage an assault on your Internet connection is Gearbox's shoot 'n' loot funny fest Borderlands 2, while PlayStation Vita owners will score complimentary copies of Soul Sacrifice and bonkers fighter Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend. Finally, owners of Sony's spangly new next generation console will scoop Don't Starve from 8th January, which sees you assume the role an intrepid scientist named Wilson who finds himself forced to survive in a world of science of magic.
It's worth noting that GRID 2, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed are all set to depart on 24th December, while PlayStation 4 indie Contrast will blend into the shadows on 8th January. As always, various deals and discounts will be detailed throughout the month. Are you satisfied with this lineup? Are you eyeing this selection with jealousy overseas? This is insane. Naturally, I would've liked moar for PS4 on Plus, but I can understand why it's "only" one game...but the offering for PS3 is off the hook...it's just getting better and better!
Now thats an awesome refresh. Soul Sacrifice & Blazblue on Vita At least ill finally get to try Borderlands 2 (not played it due to Gearbox's treatment of Colonial Marines, sue me) was going to wait for the Vita port but Ill see how it is on Ps3. DMC too. Weren't sure with it being a reboot but at least I can try it now without having to worry about regretting the purchase
Best update in months despite me owning most of the games already.
@MadchesterManc Get on Borderlands 2 as it's fantastic. Only Red Dead is ahead of it for my personal best game on the PS3.
Looks like everyone will get the chance to play my favorite FPS of all time.
My only recommendation is if you are planning to get all the DLC just get the GOTY edition is cheaper this way.
I already own Borderlands 2 and DmC on PC
I do own Blazblue CS Extend on the PS3 but was hoping to get it on the Vita since it's an amazing fighter, and boy I can't wait for Soul Sacrifice as I've heard many good things
A good month I must say, gonna get all the games, after all, there's no problem in having then all in the download list
About Don't Starve, I'll probably try it too since I might be getting my PS4 today, that is.. If Friday 13th does not ruin my plans LOL
Blazblue! Awesome! I had Collamity Trigger for PS3 so always held back on the Vita version. Soul Sacrifice didn't set my world on fire, but free is free.
What an Update! Had BL2 but not anymore so it will def get downloaded. Have Soul Sacrifice, cant wait to play Blazblue.
DMC however, im not sure. Im a fan of the old DMC's so i didnt get the reboot. But now that its free, who knows
DMC is winning the poll for Jan but it comes out Dec 24?
As usual I like the EU better but it looks like we both get/got Borderlands 2 and Grid 2 and DD:DA so that's close enough I guess. Have a whole year to go so Sonic and DMC are probably in my future. glad I only paid $30 as I still don't have a Vita or PS4. And I'm still bummed about missing KoA:R but DD:DA is worth more than I paid for PS+ so everything else is a bonus. An dNi no Kuni for $9.79 saved me a few bucks. And Ico and SotC. Yeah already got my $30 worth.
Wow this is, er, pretty amazing. This will be my first month as a + member!
That's crazy. 3 games I am interested in but never got around to. Need a bigger memory card for the Vita and may have to park the ps4 for a while. hmm.
Got Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen off PS+ in the US and LOVED it. It might just be my favorite RPG.
Can't wait to get DmC and play through that again it's a really fun game with a great soundtrack I never did understand the hate it received, Ps+ is getting better and better I almost want to get a vita just so I don't miss out on anything ps+ has to offer.
@rjejr Even though it comes out in December, it's technically the January update. Bit weird, I know.
DmC is a must play. I loved that game so much and I find all the hate it gets bemusing. If you haven't played it before you've missed out on a a brilliant reboot that had such a great style of presentation.
PLAY IT ! (by order of Alex Stinton)
@rjejr It's all to do with the games being allowed on PS+ for four weeks, not a month, so we get 13 updates a year as opposed to twelve, the same way magazines do. It's a few days earlier this year as Wednesday (update day in EU) is Christmas Day.
I R JEALOUS OF EU PS+
@rastamadeus - Buuuuuut - there are 5 Wed in Jan and only 4 in Dec so shouldn't Jan 29 be the 1st update for Feb. and Dec 25 be the last of the normal 4 Dec udpates, not the first in Jan? Does Jan really need 6 Wed updates?
I'm prety sure the US gets 12 updates, not 13, and whenever a month has 5 Tuedays the last Tuesday of that month we just don't get anything for either rmonth.
I know it's Tues the 24th rather than Wed the 25 for Chirstmas, I'm not that dense.
