The Last of Us Autosave Bug

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. The Last of Us is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated titles of the year, with many eager gamers across the globe heading to stores to pick up their copies today. Unfortunately, the launch has been plagued by a disastrous bug, which can cost you hours of progress as a result.

The glitch first popped up on NeoGAF, but has been slowly infecting Twitter over the past few hours. Basically, it pertains to the autosave feature in the game, which has a tendency to fail. If you continue playing during that time, there’s a high risk that you'll lose your progress. We never had any issues with our debug review code, so we’re assuming that this is caused by the title’s day-one patch.

Naughty Dog’s yet to comment on the issue, though we’re sure that it will have a solution ready soon. In the meantime, the only real way to ensure that you haven’t been affected is by pausing the game and checking the “last save” message. If it gets stuck on “autosaving, please wait”, it’s probably time to turn the title off, as you’re not going to be able to record your progress.

Have you been affected by this issue? Have you happened upon a temporary solution? Let us know in the comments section below.

Update: According to Naughty Dog, this issue has now been solved.
