Still high
Yay, a lot lower than I thought. Now I'll only have to spend $200 to get all the Vita accessories I need!
I knew it, GameStop calling things before they know anything (as per usual, unfortunately).
But really, these are still too damn high for memory cards. But at least it's cheaper than we initially expected, so that's a plus.
Still pretty darn expensive. I might still pick one up at launch. If I do I will go with an 8 GB card until the prices come down for the higher storage space cards.
Still high.
For some strange reason 32GB cards will not be available in Europe!
what a rip-off.
I find it odd that 2 8gb cards are cheaper than 1 16gb card.
The prices are still a bit high and so I shall be going with a 8gb Memory Card. That should be enough to take me through until they get a price drop and we all know the PlayStation Vita and it's accessories will get a price drop just as the Nintendo 3DS has.
Thank you Sony for trying to take all my $$$. I'd go with the 8 GB but I'm going to download games plus you never know how much space the games that require storage are going to use. Luckily I got gift cards for Kwanzaa
I think I'll wait for alternatives by Sundisk or other manifacturers, hoping they'll be available by the time Vita launches in Europe. That said, I totally get the push on full downloadable games by Sony, but as a long time gamer accustomed with physical releases, I cannot endorse this practice. Especially not when top tier titles like Gravity Rush are involved.
@Strider_Hiryu: It was my understanding that Sony had decided not to option this format out to third parties for "security" reasons. So if that's true...you're in for one heck of a long wait there.
Worse for the downloads is the recent revelation that they load more slowly than the retail versions of the games (a news bit I saw on a different site...Kotaku, I think). It's a pretty small difference, but it's still there, and I think the loads times are quite long enough on the game cards without adding to it.
Am I the only one who isn't all that put off by the pricing? Doesn't seem THAT far from SD cards...way more reasonable than memory stick at any rate.
@Stuff - that sucks about the load speed. Might get the week-early bundle w/ the included 4 gig--we'll see.
Oh--and hi world! I still exist--I promise.
