Sony's has posted a PS Vita FAQ to its Japanese PlayStation site, revealing that the company may plan on offering discounted digital downloads for the UMD games PSP gamers have amassed over the years.
The FAQ includes the question "Can PS Vita play PSP Games?" The answer is yes, but only via digital downloads. Sony does go on to say that those who already own the UMD of a game may be offered a discounted digital version for PS Vita.
It is unclear if Sony is considering this program outside of Japan. Remember that Sony contemplated implementing a similar program for PSP Go buyers whose library of UMDs would be useless on the all-digital console. That program never actually panned out, so don't go selling your PSP just yet.

Yes, you should have to pay something. Be glad they're even offering a discount, they don't have to. By your logic, any time a game is released on a DL service, I should get it for free if I already own it. It's the same thing as buying two copies of a game, you don't get however many copies you want if you own one.
I just want to now if I will be able to download my psp go stuff to my vita.
Oh you're right, I'm sorry. What would they gain putting a game up on the PSN when you already own it? My bad. I mean, it's not like there's anyone else in the world who could possibly want it either, because you don't.
I can count the games I have that aren't a PSN download on one hand, and I don't plan on trading in my PSP's... so, no problem for me anyways.
@zezhyrule and @DrCruse let's keep calm and knock the sarcasm on the head, thanks.
