SCE UK's Preparing The Biggest Marketing Campaign In Its History For Uncharted 3.

With its predecessor having scooped up almost every game of the year award going, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception has some big boots to fill. But we don't think anyone has any doubts as to whether Naughty Dog are up for the challenge.

Whether the game can better Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or not, Sony hopes that the added enthusiasm surrounding the adventure series will prompt some big sales. And keen to transform Nathan Drake's escapades into a serious blockbuster, Sony UK's stumped up an enormous £5 million marketing budget to promote the game and PlayStation 3 this holiday.

According to MCV, Sony's commissioned a short documentary from Shakespeare In Love director Ed Zwick. The documentary will feature appearances by Diane Kruger and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as Nathan Drake's voice actor Nolan North. The documentary will debut on YouTube.

Other marketing endeavours will include TV adverts, posters in shopping centres and a massive online splash. It's set to be the biggest campaign in SCE UK's history, which is staggering when you think about the legacy of PlayStation.

“This will be the biggest launch in SCE UK’s history, both in terms of ambition, numbers and spend and will be supported by a marketing budget of around £5 million,” SCE Europe’s Ian Vinten said.

“To really reach that mass audience at launch we will be running a large outdoor campaign with a number of different premium formats including high quality 48-sheets as well as builds across the country.”

Uncharted 3's out November 1st in North America and November 2nd in the UK.
