Sony Originally Planned An Earlier Release For PlayStation Vita.

It feels like the platform holder has been 'umming and ahhing' for an eternity, with the system only just meeting its 2011 release domestically, and no date here in the West.

Speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, SCEJ gaffer Hiroshi Kawano admitted that the device was originally intended to release on December 3rd, with hardware supply concerns pushing the system's launch back to December 17th.

Kawano wouldn't specify launch allocations, but in a previous interview predicted that around 500,000 units would fly off the shelves at release.
