Looks Silly, But Promises An Extraordinary Experience.

But stick with us for a moment. Pictured above is the Sony HMZ-T1, a head mounted display due to release in Japan on November 11th. The display features two 1280x720, 0.7-inch OLED screens that are designed to reproduce the sensation of watching a 750ft screen in 3D from around 20 metres away. It also packs 5.1 surround sound in its head-phones. In essence, it's like having a home cinema wrapped around your eyeballs.

Sony's charging a reasonable ¥60,000 ($783 US) for the technology. The helmet comes tethered to an input and output processor unit. No word on whether it will make it over to the West. We'd love to try it out.
