SCE Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, has told EDGE magazine that Sony will give the NGP a final name later in the year

Sony's NGP Won't Be Called "NGP" Forever.

Well, NGP is the codename weve used since 2008. We will announce the final name of the console sometime later this year, Yoshida told the magazine, presumably looking towards an E3 reveal.

While the news in itself is not a particularly big deal, it does open the doors to speculation. So much discussion has focused on price, we've barely had a moment to talk about the name. While the odds-on favourite is PSP2, we feel like Sony will take the naming in a different direction. We don't think it's going to be a PlayStation Portable at all, instead we think the name will reflect the versatility of the device.
