Audiophiles Will Have To Sacrifice That Extra Sound Clarity For 3D Images.

Despite working like a charm, it does have some issues - as pointed out by Blu-ray.com. The site notes that while viewing movies in full 1080p 3D on the PlayStation 3, viewers will have to sacrifice lossless audio.

The report on Blu-ray.com states: "I can confirm that with the PS3 3.50 firmware update it only puts the audio out as DTS standard (lossy) in the bitstream mode. Also the menus on Coraline are flattened to 2D. Subtitles still show up in 3D mode, and so do menus. The image just flattens." While this probably sounds like terrible news, it's actually not a particularly big deal. In fact, Blu-ray.com summarise, "So for now 3D on the PS3...full 1080p to each eye, but no HD audio and no 3D on menu screens or pop up menus. Can't say I'm disappointed."

Of course, the biggest drawback for most people will be the need to buy a new television. We'd be down at our local Sony shop right now if we had the funds...
