If the blaring "battle music" is anything to go by, I'd say we're in a panic. The Don's told us that Sector 7 is to be blown to the ground and apparently Barrett's up the tower trying to fight. Myself and Tifa leg it, leaving Aeris to look after Barrett's daughter Marlene. Marlene. What if we don't make it in time?

As we climb the tower we happen across a resigned Wedge and Biggs. "Great to see you one last time Cloud," they announce. We leave with a lump in our throat. This is probably the last time we'll see those guys. But there's no time. We gotta reach the top of the tower. We gotta find Barrett.

He's there, he's holding his own. He's alive. But there's a helicopter swooping in. Dude looks shady. He's setting some charges. We challenge him. We beat him. But the explosives are set. And to make matters worse, Aeris is in the dude's get-away 'copter. What about Marlene? No time to question that, we gotta jump. We find a giant wire and swing ourselves to safety as Sector 7 explodes; Biggs and Wedge with it.

Marlene? "I think she's alright," announces Tifa. "Aeris said 'She's safe'. I'm sure she meant Marlene." I'm preoccupied. Poor Aeris. I'd grown to love her. With or without Barrett and Tifa, I have to find her. Thankfully they want to come with me. We head to Aeris' house.

The good news is that Marlene is safe. She's staying with Aeris' mother. Though it turns out she's not really Aeris' mother. No, Aeris is an ancient. Capable of great power. That's what the Shinra want with her. At this point I know I've got to find her. Lovely as Tifa is, I think Aeris might be... "The one."

We rush to Shinra headquarters after a rather lengthy climb. To floor 60 we head...
