Naughty Dog, the studio behind Uncharted, has apparently been toying with the idea of a new entry for years. That's according to reliable insider Tom Henderson.
Speaking on the Insider Gaming podcast, Henderson briefly touches on the Uncharted series, stating that the studio has "floated" a new game more than once.
Recently, a photo from a research trip caused a small amount of buzz, with some suggesting it points to a new Uncharted game being in the works.
"This isn't the first time that Naughty Dog have floated with the idea of Uncharted 5," Henderson says.
He adds that "there was some planning of an Uncharted 5 before [the COVID-19 pandemic]," and says he's unsure what the studio had planned as far as the game's story goes.
Currently, Naughty Dog's main project is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, an entirely new IP set in a retro-futuristic sci-fi universe.
However, it's entirely possible that a separate team within the studio is building another game, and a new Uncharted title would be a safe swing, considering the series is among Sony's best-selling franchises.
It sounds plausible to us that Naughty Dog has thought about returning to Uncharted, then, but what do you think? Tell us in the comments section below.
