Bootleggers Is A New Free-To-Play Game Set Within PlayStation Home.

We concluded that some kind of paintball game would make the most sense. But Sony's gone further, announcing Bootleggers, a full-on free-to-play first-person shooter set within the PlayStation Home universe.

Woah.

Bootleggers will launch alongside the heavily publicised PlayStation Home redesign later this year. Players will be able to frag it out, avatar versus avatar in a variety of deathmatch style scenarios. The game will be included as part of the new Action District, one of Home's new plazas designed for grittier experiences. Those in the Action district will be able to jump into a game of Bootleggers via a simple matchmaking system. The game's completely free too, with no sign of microtransactions in its current guise. Home director Jack Buser told Shacknews that the aim is to increase Home user involvement.

Another new game coming to PlayStation Home is a Poker title that can be found in the Sports Hub. Like Bootleggers, the game is powered by a simple matchmaking feature. The game will be accompanied by a video news-feed of all the real-world sporting headlines, that will be streamed into PlayStation Home while you play.

The new service is set to debut later in the year. We're starting to get excited.
