i have a theory about that one:
xbox fan: a microbrain that only can make look their system better trashing the competition, usually are mentalchild with recursive cheap attacks with offensive words.
playstation fan: they know got the better system, and try to educate other people about the great features of their console and debate the doubtful points of other fanboys.
thats why every fanboy war, its like see one band use policy and the other army, like a reasonable man vs an animal, a fatter trying explaining to their child that even the vaccine would hurt for a second it we be for the best

I will only comment on why "the inferior version of Tales Of Vesperia is, erm, “superior”.":
1) Because you can actually play it today.
2) Because you can already buy it for half of what the "not inferior" version will cost you when it's eventually out.
And in the money you save you can probably buy a copy of "Star Ocean 4", which will probably also have a "superior" PS3 version sometime before 2015...

its funny how people get upset over sony they sell crap products with less features charge more and expect not to get back lash. the ps3 is one of the few things they made right . alot of people forget all the trouble the ps2s had with disk skipping and over heating issues . but if people did there research on paper you will find microsoft has the better hardware with less bottle necks. on top of that the dvd9 format has better transfer rates so they are right about better hardware.

@JOHNNY: We can't put on the fanboy glasses if you have them on already. Go to places like Kotaku and GameDaily and tell me there isn't some hidden agenda on some of these sites to push the 360 and shun Sony at every turn.

@hotnoodletuna: The "big deal" is that Microsoft is never called out on any of this BS while Sony would get called out left and right for every letter they wrote if they put this out. Unlike the Genesis/SNES days where BOTH companies got called out for some of the BS by most people, we have people that just give MS a free pass for everything, while they act like Sony is sexually molesting their children every single day or something. It's ridiculous and it needs to stop.

P.S. With Japan having only 14% of the total World Sales for PS3... which is very sad for a console's home country. I fail to understand why Japan is considered a major front of this Console War.

It's the final frontier... OR so to speak.

With me living in Japan right now, I can tell you MS is trying very hard. Go to a big city like Tokyo, Osaka, or even Nagoya (near where I'm at) and their advertising and 360 Kiosks are huge! Go to a small town or the outskirts of a big city (like where I'm at) and you have places like Toys R Us (yes, in Japan) discontinuing MS products... Yet Sony's section isn't anywhere as near as big as Nintendo's section. 5 rows and a full wall of Wiis and DSs at the local Toys R Us!

Oh and another note. You ask Japanese kids if they want a PS3, they'll say "NO, I want a PS2." Why? "Cause it's much cheaper, 100Xs more games, and many of my friends already have one."

There you have it. Straight from the Japanese Theater of this Console War.

Why is M$ even trying to beat Sony in Japan anyway, its their territory. As of now Sony is beating Nintendos Wii(which is amazing), while the 360 is selling laughably a little bit more than the Ps2. Just give up M$, everyone hates you, ur system sucks, and ull never beat Sony in Japan.

Sounds to me like pretty standard marketing stuff. Not unlike the old "Sega does what Nintendon't" ads. Was the Genesis better than the Super NES? No. Did anyone take offense to that? Not that I can recall. Either we've become more sensitive or their is some kind of anti-MIcrosoft bias here. This is a JApanese ad. he 360 doesn't sell at all in Japan. What's the big deal?

I loved the xbox and xbox 360 i own both and from playstation to the 3rd one. I love them both i just prefer ps3 now its more in the high tech for me. This little ad thing is just wrong tho i really wish this would all stop cuz in the end seriously what do we get from supposely a company winning absoutly nothing just are console and games and new features this dont matter to me really. I own all 3 and last gen all 3 loved them all (but really disapointed with the wii) and the 360 i dont like how i had gone threw 7 of them since launch, also ps3 i dont like the price but all thats with it i think is worth it. When you hear about people actual geting hurt and shit on the news or sites because of this stuff then you know its gone way to far.

It might be HD Ready, but you have nothing that is truly in HD. Don't worry, mate, you can always upscale DVD quality to 1080i. (That was a good argument before and during the format war, but now the PS3 stands its ground on that point).

I like how your comment reminded me of an article I read not to long ago about MS making less superior features of the 360 seem more superior than the PS3. ***thinking**** oh yeah, that was this article. Haha, funny...ok not really.

Having an HDMI wire (I think you meant cable, because a HDMI wire alone is not up to the standards of HDMI) will make the 1080i "flaws" more noticeable : ). Ethernet cable, both have. Personally, I wouldn't want to be caught with that headset on me, but that is just me. You also know that it IS 2.4 GHz, and everything wireless these days are running under 2.4GHz, talk about interference. Bluetooth doesn't have that problem. Only a free month, I have had my PS3 for 1 year, and I have yet to be charged for it (I am hinting that it is completely free, but, again, you knew that.)

I don't think that Microsoft should say that their system is superior then Sony. They can deliver the same content as them. The difference is that Microsoft buy their content for exclusive. Hey! don't get me wrong though because sony buy exclusive content from dev too just not as much as microsoft spends. Because of this Sony got other things in mind (investing other IPs like they did last gen, Sony's PSP since they competing in the handheld market, Moving people who have the PS2 to PS3.) so they need to move around with that or they can get hit with it.

@ Darkie - The PS2 had an expansion slot for a HDD, MS didn't start that. Nobody has said MS has done nothing for gaming....at least, not from these lips Sir. MS has done allot for gaming, not all of it great, not all of it bad...but, with their current console, I feel they've set quality control standards back several decades, and that their constituents have done nothing but help in that reguard. I understand Halo, and Gears and Fable are fun...but...sorry, not fun enough to buy a 360, especially when my PC annihilates both consoles.

@Cell89 Both MS and Sony have their positives and their negatives, to sit here and claim Sony and Nintendo are flawless, while MS is some big evil devil company is absurd and makes you look like a fanboy who should be ignored.

Before MS set the example of communicating with customers, via blogs and even Major Nelson, Sony's idea of customer communications was setting up fake blogs that claimed to be independent of Sony while bashing the competition and praising Sony products.

Yes the people who were screwed by the PS2 hardware issues filed a class action suite, but that was because Sony continued to deny the problem existed, 360 fans have no need for a suite because they do not have to pay for the repairs made to the console, there is no loss to the consumer other than a little playing time.

Were it not for MS we would not have reliable and well done online gaming for consoles, achievements or trophies, hard drives in consoles, and a myriad of online features including in game chat, in game personal sound tracks, and other friends features. You could go on all day with features that MS brought to gaming via 360 or games exclusive to 360. You folks who claim MS has done nothing for gaming are just biased hacks who can't see past your love for Sony, and your hate for Microsoft.

I think back in the last gen now..... How many consoles did MS sell last gen. I think it was around 20 Million and they got the same numbers so far. Ok theirs the fanbase for MS now. Sony Not only do they make the Playstation 3 but i bet anyone that bashes sony. When they go out to Buy something like a camera a big percentage of sold cameras. Id bet are made from sony. Also then they sell everything else they got one of the best line of Tv`s out so far. So Look at that and look at the fan base of the ps2 now how many consoles did the ps2 sell last gen i belive it was over 100 million the highest selling console of all time. What last gen console is still geting games Ps2. Where is xbox gone almost right when the xbox 360 came out. MS dumped the xbox completely sony is catching up give them time id say its mainly because of the price pont now and how bad it is with money and jobs. But in time i belive sony will rise up and rule now i dont hate MS i got a xbox 360 i just enjoy my ps3 more im not a fanboy i just dont like how MS has to do this to sell consoles its pathetic so think about all that and in the end who is the real winner?

@ Darkie - Actually, if you look at exactly what Sony has said, they've tried to keep things relatively clean. They have stated that their machine offers more than the others, however, they've usually not stated the others by name...usually. Obviously, Sony has their moments too, but largely, the trash talking is definitely coming from MS.

@ Ralf - Check the specs on Coaxial cables buddy, they transfer @ 720-1080i resolutions. Only need HDMI for 1080p. And, yeah, they're also cheap as hell. Would rather have the Blu Ray player, and frankly quality hardware, than a faulty piece of machinery and some piece of crap MS periphery.

I agree with this article, in this generation Sony has been receiving soooo much backlash from everyone, Just recently we've been seeing a little bit of a break. Sony has actually been doing very well earning the respect of gamers, why with so much content been exclusive to their platform, and yet we still get home, PSN for free. Then you look at PS lifestyle, and you realize they are doing their part against cancer.

I think the best thing about Sony and their PLatforms(PS3,PSP) is the people that operate the business. Sony's staff is awesome, just look at the PSBLOG, they have really emphasize what gaming community is all about. Then you look at the quality of the hardware, and the great features that come right out of the box, while MS cant even fix their hardware issues 4 years after launch,Why? well because they are out to make money, even if it means laughing blatantly at the expense of all their own customers, who keep on buying the hardware instead of filing a class action suit, and demanding a recall.

Microsoft spends millions bribing 3rd party devs, only releasing 1-3 games per year out of their lousy 1st party devs, while Sony spends millions building NEW, REVOLUTIONARY games. MS never takes risks they only put money on franchises that have existed for years, while Sony and Nintendo are always looking for new ground, but only Sony invests on new IP's like no one else.

MS only wants to hold back the gaming industry to their liking(to make a profit), but Sony and Nintendo keep pushing it to new grounds.

That's weird cuz Sony is Japanese, and for years they have been talking about how much better than their competition they are.

You probably only have a PS3 I suppose. The Xbox 360 is the one that comes HD ready. The elite comes with an HDMI wire, Ethernet cable, a headset and a free month of gold membership. PS3 doesn't come with neither. An Xbox 360 Pro comes with HD component cables, headset, Ethernet and a free month gold membership. PS3 only has an a/v regular cable and that's it. I have em both and I prefer live even tho they charge 50 for 13 months which is like 3 dollars and some per month. I do hate the fact that ms is calling Sony out tho. I hate that about any company. I think the funniest thing about this is that MS fails to understand marketing in Japan. The first thing you learn about business in Japan is that you NEVER directly compare yourself to the competition, no matter how obvious as using real names is crass. They've just opened their mouth and a fart came out - the whole Japanese public is looking at them accordingly.

I disagree, I think the reason we have heard so little fuss about this is because no one has ever heard of it. Other than this site I never knew the ad campaign existed. Maybe because its from Japan.

Now, if MS released these ads in the USA, you would have to be nuts to think they would not be crucified by the rabid Sony fanboys that dominate the internet these days. It would start at N4G the Sony fanboy rally point, and explode into non stop MS, 360 and Bill Gates bashing all over the web.

NO ONE is hated more than Microsoft, so dont even try suggesting other wise, you see nothing but people defending Sony when anyone says anything negative about them, we just don't see that on the 360 Microsoft side, not as aggressively.

A lot of people are biased towards the PS3, you can't avoid it. Many pay much more attention to Sony then their favorite company, Microsoft, and watch their every move just to find faults to them.

Of course, most don't, and it goes both ways, but still, this is annoying.
