Secret Mode Game Reviews
No Shade
Star Wars: Galactic Racer successfully blends the best of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, WipEout HD, and Burnout 3: Takedown to make for one of the most exciting racers I’ve played in years. This debut effort from Fuse Games – a UK studio founded by Criterion veterans – is a white-knuckle triumph which at times had me on the edge of my...
Review Escape the Backrooms (PS5) - Impressively Expansive Co-Op Fun
Just a good laugh (and fright)
At first glance, Escape the Backrooms is just a cheap cash-grab to capitalise on the success of Kane Parson’s Backrooms movie. That’s certainly what I thought when I picked it up for a tenner on the PS Store. The graphics aren’t the best, the sound design is so-so, and there are myriad things you could nit-pick...
Mini Review Still Wakes the Deep: Siren's Rest (PS5) - Scottish Horror Loses the Magic
It dinny be the same
Still Wakes the Deep was one of our favourite releases of 2024, so the news of a slice of DLC dropping in the form of Siren’s Rest was music to our ears. This paid expansion, which picks up a decade after the events of the main game, sees diver Mhairi swim to the depths of the ocean to uncover the truth of the Beira D oil...
Mini Review Parcel Corps (PS5) - A Speedy Dispatch, Not a Special Delivery
Fragile Express
Delivery games vary drastically from simple delivery driver simulators to more complex titles such as Death Stranding, where you traverse treacherous terrain to complete your daily drops. However, Parcel Corps, the cel-shaded, extreme sports delivery game from Billy Goat Entertainment, sticks to a more familiar concept, providing the...
Review Still Wakes the Deep (PS5) - Scottish Oil Rig Conjures Up the Horror Magic
Gonnae no dae that
There’s something special about a truly isolated horror setting. The Nostromo in Alien, Outpost 31 in The Thing, and the USG Ishimura in Dead Space. Well, you can add the Beira D to the list as Still Wakes the Deep crafts up a contorted setting, dripped in sea water, oil, and blood. Switching out the quaint English countryside...
Mini Review A Little To The Left (PS5) - Sorting Out Those Cosy Vibes
Watch out for that cat
There's nothing quite like a cosy game, and A Little to the Left is a perfect example of how a simplistic premise can deliver a comforting experience. In this relaxing puzzle game, you sort and organise basic household items, such as documents, books, toys, and anything you'd consider requiring a bit of a sort out, really...
Mini Review Zool Redimensioned (PS4) - Blast from the Past Packs Neat Modern Features
Return of the ninja
Gremlin Interactive has a storied history, dating back to the early days of console gaming. Developing titles for Commodore 64, marshalling the Premiere Manager series through several generations, and later heading to PlayStation (anybody remember cult isometric shooter Loaded and its sequel?) — it's safe to say it has a varied...
