Sony has announced version 26.06-14.00.00 of the PS5 system software has begun rolling out, and should be available to download to your console within the next 24 hours or so.
This update is more than just a stability improvement, so let's take a look at the full list of patch notes, as per Sony:
PS5 Firmware Update 26.06-14.00.00 Patch Notes
- We've turned on Enhance PSSR Image Quality as a default setting. When you update the system software, this setting automatically turns on. When you enable this feature, enhanced PSSR is used even for games that support the previous version of PSSR, so you can enjoy a sharper and clearer visual experience.
- To turn off this setting, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality.
- This feature is available only on PS5 Pro.
- You can now see who’s speaking while you’re in a voice chat.
- To show the speaker indicator, go to the voice chat card in the control centre. Select More > Display Who’s Speaking and turn on Display Names.
- To choose where the speaker indicator appears on your screen, select Position.
- We’ve added the Community Activity widget to your Welcome Hub. You can switch between the following views.
- Trending Now displays ten multiplayer games or multiplayer modes that are surging in popularity. Look here for new game releases or games with major content updates.
- Top 10 displays the ten most popular games in the last week for your country or region. Look here to see what games have a large community of players you can join.
- We’ve changed the following features for PS5 consoles and PS5 Pro consoles in certain countries or regions.
- If you go to Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings and select Turn Off Bluetooth, your console does not enter rest mode and HDMI Device Link does not function.
- The Turn Off Bluetooth function is for managing controller connections at esports venues and similar locations. Do not use this feature for any other purpose.
- We've improved system software performance and stability.
The first bullet point only applies to PS5 Pro owners, and it'll see the enhanced PSSR feature utilised by default, so you never have to wonder whether it's active or not. The option to turn it off will still be there, but after applying the firmware update, you'll need to go into the settings to switch it off if you want to.
Elsewhere, the PS5 system patch now shows who's talking during a voice chat by applying a widget to your screen during play.
Then there's the Welcome Hub, which has two additional options: Trending Now and Top 10. The former shows 10 multiplayer games that are proving more popular than usual, while Top 10 lists the ten most popular titles overall in your country/region from the past week.
There are also some tweaks to Bluetooth, and last but far from least, there's "improved system software performance and stability". That's what we were all really looking for, wasn't it?

No Folders, No Download
Pssr 2 is bloody great!
The top ten widget sounds useful. Especially if you want to play a round of guess which games are popular this week. And you'd probably be right too. The Pssr feature makes me question if I even had it on for some games in the first place. Day one for Crimson Desert was 'this looks like an oil painting', 4k/HDR and my refresh rate were all set wrong. It helps to know what's under the hood too, if Sony are making that easier then great.
Good ole PS5…It’s late into the generation so i ain’t even mad anymore. PS5 gonna PS5
@nomither6 would guess ps6 end of 2028
@Reeneman End of 2028 would be acceptable as the earliest date to release it (at least going by other generation gaps and not considering any other factors).
@TDHorizon end of 2027 would be too early given the slow start of the current gen. Furthermore the hardware and RAM prices are so crazy currently. Hopefully this will settle soon.
Can the community activity widget be disabled and removed?
@SoonForget even better… could all widgets be removed.
So nothing usefull again...
@djlard we won’t see any substantial changes anymore so late in this gen.
@PaperAlien They are called "Games Lists"
Still missing loads of the QoL PS4 features
I'm asking not for folders but the extendable main menu row option from ps4, it was able to show all games there without needing a folder or the library
From the way things are going, I'm worried that Sony will add a paid subscription to allow us to use our own controllers.
ps4 got a firmware update too but no additions
Don't update if you plan on jailbreaking. This update patched all kinds of security stuff.
Patches Andy's 13.52 HV Exploit I suspect is the main reason
I’m not in front of my console at the moment, is there a way to remove/delete that ‘Top 10’ widget? I can only imagine it’ll be mostly the same crap each week; live service slop, whatever the most current sports game is, and the latest shooter. I have less than no interest in any of that waste of RAM and I’m hoping I can at least push that widget offscreen so I don’t have to look at it.
@Balaam_ Sony doesn’t believe you should have control over anything you own. Anything you buy is a tool to advertise to you on.
"The Turn Off Bluetooth function is for managing controller connections at esports venues and similar locations. Do not use this feature for any other purpose."
You can't tell me what to do, I'll do whatever I want!
Anybody else got that HDR settings screen after the restart ?
The update was installed and after the restart I’ve got that settings screen where you put in the white and black values with those patterns.
@Balaam_ you can usually pick the widgets you want, if any. I imagine this will be the same.
Whatever happened to the last UI beta features?
They ever gonna fix the wishlist?
@JimmyRiddle @Balaam_ @SoonForget Welcome Hub widgets are optional, including this new one. That is, you can enable/disable whichever you want.
Kind of gave up on Sony. My PlayStation is a dead weight and might be put away. I do not like this Sony.
