SEGA has announced the next freebie character joining the playable roster in its ever-growing kart racer, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
Bayonetta, sporting her original design, will be coming "soon" to the game in a future update, free to all players, as is the case with all SEGA characters.
The news comes via this new video:
The character brings with her a signature vehicle β the Butterfly Witch machine.
The trailer not only reveals Bayonetta is joining the fun, but it also shares more on the previously announced premium DLC packs coming to CrossWorlds in its second year, namely Godzilla and Evangelion.
In the video we get a better picture of what these two packs are bringing to the racer; each will include a new course, vehicles, and in Evangelion's case, two new characters β Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley.
We'll get to see even more about CrossWorlds' second year in a showcase, which will be part of the broadcast for the World Championship finals on 9th October.
SEGA's far from finished with this game, then β are you excited about what's to come? Tell us in the comments section below.

As someone who started with Bayonetta 2, it will never not be weird seeing Bayonetta on PlayStation.
I do really like the Godzilla x City Escape track.
Sweeeeet!!!! Love this game!
Talking about updates on Sega games, with all due respect to Sonic Racing fans, what Sega really needs to do is patch Alien Isolation to at least unlock 60 fps. That is a masterpiece game that players are always going back to, and this should even help the sales of Alien Isolation 2 as well.
@ShadowRJ
But Bayonetta started on PS3 and Xbox, not Nintendo.
@FinalBoss I feel like they will do a PS5 version of Alien Isolation when the second came is close to release to drum up excitement, the game does deserve 60FPS at least.
@carrey23 I know that, but I started with 2, sheβs in Smash Bros, and Bayonetta on PS3 just might be the absolute worst PS3 port of the lot.
@ShadowRJ
The first Game got a remaster on PS4 and it looked really good, if you wanna play it. π
It's really cool to see Bayo in the game.
Favorite kart racer currently, (sorry Mario) I'm looking forward to it.
Whoa, between this collab and the Stellar Blade one, I'm actually starting to think those Bayonetta remake rumors might have some legs to them... fingers crossed! Btw this game roster is delightfully insane
would love to see a Bayonetta remake or new game in the series
@ShadowRJ haha I feel the opposite, it will never not be weird seeing Bayonetta as a Nintendo exclusive franchise
the best thing for the bayonetta ip would be to be let free from nintendo
@lazymike AGREED! I wish Nintendo would allow the titles to be remastered and put on PS, Xbox & Steam. Not doing so is $$ lost IMHO.
About time we got SpongeBob and Bayonetta in the same game. Been waiting for that for ages.
I just keep thinking about that rumored Bayo1 remake. If real I wonder if PlatinumGames will reveal it at TGS which starts this week.
@ShadowRJ @DETfaninATL I will forever be thankful to Nintendo for picking up the series when SEGA did not fund it and I bought every release of the games. Still, it is a series that would thrive on PlayStation, Xbox and PC and just feels more at home on those platforms.
This is great news, Sega have been very good supporting this game.
Though would love to see some more tracks based off other Sega properties, like we had in Transformered. Even a Dlc pack would be cool with a selection it, would definitely grab it.
Oh I love Bayonetta!!!
Great game (only played the first one, haven't got a Switch) and she's awesome!
@ShadowRJ It's actually a crime to see Bayonetta 2 and 3 locked to a Nintendo console
@Shrek_Realista it is what it is. I love Bayonetta 2, itβs one of my all time favourite games, but Iβve never gotten into Bayonetta 1 (partly because of that dire PS3 port). Add in her appearance in Smash Bros, Bayonetta is a Nintendo character first in my mind.
@ShadowRJ
To my understanding, SEGA owns the IP for Bayonetta, and Nintendo funded the development for Bayonetta 2 & 3 in exchange for publishing rights.
^Thats correct.
Imo I honestly believe its due time for Nintendo to let go of the publishing chain they have of the Bayonetta IP, they are better off making a series of that "other chain" which they actually fully own.
