If you've got a nostalgia for PS2 era shooters, then you should definitely take note of Sprawl Zero.
This is a cyberpunk-themed blast-'em-up that wears its early 2000s influences on its sleeve. It promises "fast-paced but grounded" combat, complete with crunchy gunplay and brutal melee attacks.
Your super solider character also has access to a range of gravity-based abilities. You can toss foes like ragdolls, generate bullet-stopping shields, and even slow down time to land perfect headshots.
"Handcrafted levels feature multiple paths, verticality, and alternate approaches, rewarding experimentation and replayability," reads the press release.

Sprawl Zero has looked really promising for a while, but it's now been confirmed for a PS5 release on the 8th September.
Admittedly, that's not great timing considering how ridiculously packed next month's schedule is, but fans of old school FPS carnage will surely show up if the reviews are solid enough.

This looks absolutely sick.
🤘
Looks fun. But i wish someone make a Judge Dredd game that looks like this game or at least like Robocop Rogue City.
I had a hard time playing the first one with a controller and I bounced off of it after a few hours. Hopefully this one has slightly less overwhelming encounter design and more fluid controller inputs.
That looks awesome. Wishlisted, along with the first game.
This game is gonna be great on my steam deck
Is this a sequel to Sprawl (2023)? I'm surprised that's not mentioned anywhere
Well, that’s a purchase from me that will take place. Sold. Wishlisted.
All I needed was the subheading.
I very much look forward to purchasing it and watching it unload all over my PS5.
@RicebinBernacky It is indeed a sequel to Sprawl; something that weirdly isn't mentioned even on Sprawl Zero's Steam page, as far as I can see anyway.
Turns out I own Sprawl. I'll be honest, I don't recall getting it or how I got it, nor did I even know what it was until right now. Looks cool though, so maybe I'll give it a go soon.
@PuppetMaster I would pay good money for a remake of Dredd Vs Death. It was done for Rogue Trooper so there’s hope!
Showing my age but did a professional writer just use the word ‘sick’ as an adjective or am I reading that wrong?
Played the demo for this on PC and added it onto my wishlist right after. Too bad about the release date though. In any other situation I'd be stoked, because I didn't expect this to come out until next year, but now it's joining every other September release.
Probably won't be expensive, so I'll still buy it just for support, but actually playing it might have to wait until October.
@lindos That's been used as an adjective for years and years. I did miss the meeting where the slang meaning turned from 'disgusting' to 'awesome' though.
Sprawl was a great game. If it reviews well I'll either get it on steam or on switch 2 if it supports mouse mode. Playstation is a bad fit for this kinda game and they sure as hell won't get a digital purchase from me.
@QwarktasticLombax I never get the chance to played Dredd vs Death and i would love to played it either a remaster or remake. But i've played the Sega Genesis game that loosely based on Stallone movie and i really like it.
It's weird Dredd only got a few games despite his popularity 🫤
I'm way into it. Looks like a blast. September though. Yikes.
@lindos Your age being 70? Did you read videogame magazines? Have you SEEN the things that go on in videogames?
It's a shame the box collectors are going to miss out on this digital only game.
This is my September game 🔥
Oh and as usual thanks PS for making it seem like this game doesn't come out on other platforms 🙄
Seriously, are you 12 or something?
Fair I'll take a look. I love how PS2/PS3 means it has that feel which is more mechanics, while modern ones are more 'grounded' and not gamey, aracdey or abilities interesting enough at all which is why I refuse to buy them is how bland, more menu filled and graphics/dialogue they are.
Quick looking are Sprawl I thought I'd heard of it somewhere and well a Boomer shooter or a more movement based shooter that seems ok. Sure I enjoyed Titanfall 2 but it's level designs helped, these seemed ok from a brief look.
But PC for the original and current consoles for this one. Makes sense but pass for me. No interest in Gen 9 right now. I will later.
I haven't played all of Psi Ops (got PS2 disk copy, may get the digital for PS4), and loved Singularity I got all 4 of it's endings on PS3. So I could do with something just as mechanically fun if it justifies it well that is.
Echoes of the End was good with it's Ratchet style mechanics in a PS3/PS4 slow waking and fair areas for puzzles and combat way. Gravity and water stuff or fair abilities.
I've seen lots be nostalgic garbage by Indies though, so to me I don't see a lot good out in the modern era unless they put the effort in mechanics or personality that counts not personality that mimics, isn't even close and is a non purpose.
Veterans even just make the same games again or try a few things and they vary as 'quality' matters when to me the key details I'm looking for still aren't in some games.
More fun mechanics equals easy purchase for me, not RPG systems that are bland and uninteresting.
Graphics quality don't care and dialogue that drags on and only conveys so much anyway but wants to make you think it's deep. XD
I don't care for more action, more fun puzzle solving or fair combat or abilities for both or level design with purpose not empty space that's bland, but justified in purpose of it.
PS3 games had empty space for dialogue and loading times. PS2 ones didn't as much unless they pushed the system late gen maybe or had PS3 era design cues.
Mechanics and pacing or level design is why I buy games, for gameplay. Not cutting back gameplay to make them bland and boring.
I don't play games to play movies, I play games to play games. XD
