Auteur Hideo Kojima has spoken about his concerns regarding the loss of physical media, and now Metal Gear voice actor David Hayter has spoken out.
Writing on X (or Twitter), the iconic Snake star posted a picture of his (admittedly quite cluttered) gaming setup, showing a cluster of Xbox and PS4 game cases.
He attached the increasingly popular hashtag: #NoDiscNoBuy. He even tagged in the @PlayStation account to help ensure it attracts Sony’s attention. (Although it's been getting utterly bombarded in general since making its announcement last week.)
As we’ve reported, the share of physical games is undoubtedly declining, with revenue in the United States 85% below its peak in 2008.

But this decision has hit its most vocal, enthusiast players the hardest – and the backlash is showing no signs of dying down.
With big names like Hayter rallying behind the cause, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely Sony can just bury its head in the sand here. It’ll need to issue a response in due course.
