Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 PS5

Infinity Ward has announced it'll once again offer early access to the single player campaign of its next Call of Duty title to anyone who pre-orders. If you pre-order Modern Warfare 4, you'll get to play the campaign one week early, from 16th October 2026.

This is an incentive the team has offered to drive Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders in years past, and now Modern Warfare 4 will provide the same.

In the past, you've been able to unlock multiplayer bonuses by playing through the single player portion, but Infinity Ward hasn't detailed any such rewards in Modern Warfare 4 yet. Pre-orders of both the digital standard version and the digital Vault Edition come with campaign early access; the physical copies don't.

Co-studio heads Jack O'Hara and Mark Grigsby shared more in a quick social media video:

This is one of the rare cases where early access makes sense, in my opinion. The vast, vast majority of the Call of Duty playerbase will immediately jump into multiplayer and never give the campaign a chance. By offering it to play a week early, it provides players the chance to get to grips with anything that's new in Modern Warfare 4.

This isn't like the Control Resonant incentive, where two days of early access to a story-focused game is an exclusive pre-order bonus on PS5.

Modern Warfare 4 is predominantly set in South Korea, so it at least has a new setting going for it compared to the past entries. I can't imagine the campaign will be all that memorable — the heyday of Call of Duty single player efforts died in the PS3 days — but it'll be nice to get it completed and out of the way in the days leading up to the multiplayer launch.
