Is The Medium coming to PlayStation 5? Well, developer Bloober Team was recently asked this very question, and it predictably declined to say either way. However, as the game arrives on Xbox Series consoles today, it seems a packaging faux pas has given us a bit of a clue.
Twitch streamers are receiving special, Medium-themed Xbox controllers, and while they look pretty good, you should also pay attention to the box they arrive in. Below are a couple of tweets from influencers who have the fancy pad — take a look at the top of the packaging:
As you can see, PlayStation's iconic, er, icons are clearly visible up there. That's a bit of a strange choice of branding for your custom Xbox controller, isn't it?
We're not sure if this is a simple printing error or some sort, or if it means a PS5 port of The Medium is around the corner. Either way, it's quite amusing. Do you want to see this horror game haunt PS5 in the future? Tell us in the comments section below.

Looks like it's just how Aim Controllers usually packages their stuff. Kinda funny nonetheless.
I have read that Medium is a mediocre game and will come to PS5. There a too many great games to waste time with mediocre ones.
@Max_the_German it's getting some mixed reviews but most are in the "good but not amazing" category, it seems
Nice controller, not usually into them with mad designs but I do like this one. Strange with the PlayStation thing but I wouldn’t read much into it. Looking forward to giving The Medium a try this weekend.
Are there Xbox symbols on the bottom of the box?
Looks like the actual box itself is just a generic AIM brand packaging.
Especially since AIM makes controllers for PS too.
I imagine what this is, is AIM using their usual packaging and putting a Medium sleeve over it.
No point making exclusive inner packaging for your brand if you've already got some anyway.
@Max_the_German Well if you've read it then it must be true!
Trying this myself this afternoon and if anything I'm certain the Yamaoka score will be brilliant.
Sounds like quite a boring game from the reviews. More choice is always good though.
As to the symbols, are they in any way copyrighted when all put in a configuration like this? If so, Sony would need to give permission for the packaging, which would indicate maybe it is a mistake and the design was meant for a PlayStation product.
But maybe not. Anyone know whether this is just iconography within the game reflected on the packaging?
Maybe if it's launched on psplus, I can play this "free" on gamepass pc so I don't want to buy it on ps5.
This was the only Xbox game that I was interested in, then I noticed it was being developed by Bloober team and was no longer interested in it.
i really get the feeling if this was on ps5 exclusive people would be saying the complete opposite, never understood this blind loyalty. i prefer sony because they have more games i like but this whole blind fanboyism is just childish
its 78 on metacritic at the moment thats far from medicore unless you are one of those who only buys 10/10 games
but after blair witch not filled with a lot of confidence!
@TwomanybuttonS They seem to come up with cool concepts, but can't quite pull it off.
@velio84
because you see the usual suspects, praising anything thats sony and poo pooing any thing thats not, but thats just fanboys their just bad no matter what console they support.
granted some just dont like the look of it but will just be as many who dont because its on xbox.
mind this article is just blatant click bait
@Max_the_German I've seen some critics give this game great reviews. It's right up my alley, really would like a PS5 release.
Medium is made by the bloober team so I just don't care. Their games have always been mediocre personally and that especially goes to the Blair Witch game.
It's coming to ps5 at a later date but reading some of the reviews and watching gameplay I'd say it's not a "must have" game, it's no where near the evil within/residents evils level.
@suikoden twitter is full of nonsense like this and fanboyism is rampant on there at the moment, it really is pathetic and since when is 78 mediocre anyway? The problem is too many AAA games receive far too generous scores these days, so anything that is much less than 90 is seen as mediocre.
Just another example of Microsoft putting more effort into marketing & hype than making actual good games
@carlos82 For ages i hear people talk about not buying game that scores lower then a 8-9 stupid yes new no.
@Max_the_German I already play this game on Gamepass PC for an hour. I felt like the dual reality is more of a gimmick to showcase how the XSX can run "two worlds" at the same time. Bloober could have the normal and spirit world interchangeable and nothing would have changed.
Other than the eerie atmosphere, the medium is nothing like Silent Hill. This game is a walking simulator with puzzles and its not even scary. I'll probably continue to play this game for the Story because I hate watching "Let's play" videos.
I hear it is not a nextgen looking game on some sites
Maybe the only game I found was interesting in the Ms reveal conference. Since then it got more confusing and realised it was overhyped. I'm expecting it to be on PS+ at some point.
@suikoden
Scores dont mean anything, one way or another. I'm always very sceptical of reviews. I'm really not fond of people calling a game mediocre (or a 'masterpiece' for that matter) It's really subjective if you like it or not. However it's fair to admit the reveal got the game hyped but that hype deflated a lot since. The internet is full of over reaction but generalizing on people not being impressed as being part of the console war (or as blind loyalty, though I'm not sure that makes sense) is not fair either.
Edit
Also there obviously are console warriors on both side but I often see only PlayStation fans getting the blame.
I played some of it on my Series X. It’s free to play with Gamepass which makes it bearable instead of paying a full $60 for it.
Don’t really need it on PS5. It’s fun but not that special.
The sense of atmosphere is stunning, but the lack of combat or survival horror elements kind of spoils it for me.
I'd still like to play it at some point, though.
@Max_the_German It's a fantastic game. Quite oldschool in some respects, reminds me of RE & Silent Hill. Nethertheless, it's one of the best games I've played in the last couple of years. Very engaging, gorgeous to look at, and, a blast to play!
It's silly to think that a dev/pub would limit themselves to one platform, especially one with 1/3 of the user base. Take the easy money, then go big time.
