Many have pondered how much playtime they’ll get out of next-gen titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Astro’s Playroom, and fortunately we can now bring you answers. We beat Insomniac Games’ superhero spin-off in around 12 hours, engaging in light open world busywork along the way. We’ve since cleared the game 100 per cent, taking our playthrough up to 17 hours – although there are some additional Suits and Skills locked behind New Game +, so you’re probably going to want to beat it twice.
As for Astro’s Playroom, if you rush you can have all of the levels finished in about three hours or less, but we spent a lot longer enjoying all of the Easter eggs and finding the collectibles. In the end, we played for over five hours in total, and then spent another hour or so trying to improve our scores on the online leaderboards in the Speed Run mode. Hopefully this answers some of your questions about the length of these titles.

Considering it's a free pack-in title, I'll gladly accept five hours of Astro playtime.
That's great time for Astro considering it's free. Very solid for Spider-Man as well since it was a smaller game than the first one.
5 hours for a free game that comes with the console is actually really nice.
Ooo this is exciting. I will say the atmosphere today was impacted somewhat when i loaded up the PS5 review to find a massive xbox ad pop up 😂
Great work today Sammy. Fantastic journalism.
Any word on when we can expect the review embargo for Sackboy and Demons Souls to lift?
5 hours for completion for a free game is fine by me!
Can't wait to play Spiderman Miles on PS5!
@Rob_230 We don’t have either of those games in yet.
12 hours for Spider-Man? I was expecting at least 20-25 but goddamn maybe I'll be able to get around to Demon's Souls way quicker than I thought.
The Xbox fanboys kept saying spider man miles was gonna be a 5 hour dlc It’s good to see that the game is longer than that.
@TheFrenchiestFry the Activision spider man games was about that length so I’m personally ok with it being that long.
@4kgk2 Ok maybe it's because I was way younger when the Activision stuff like Ultimate Spider-Man and the movie tie ins were coming out but I must've taken at least like 40-50 hours on Ultimate Spider-Man and even longer on the PS3 version of Spider-Man 3 lmao
the first Insomniac game I beat after about maybe 30 hours of total game time without 100%ing and just playing through the main story with some side missions and the Screwball challenges excluding the DLC.
Both perfectly acceptable, but then again I've gotten a ton of enjoyment out of Streets of Rage 4 since it came out and that game is only a couple hours tops. Between these two games as well AC: Valhalla and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War next weekend is going to be a blast.
@TheFrenchiestFry why would you expect it to be as long as the full spiderman game? They openly said from the beginning that it wouldn't be, hence the cheaper price.
@LiamCroft Thanks Liam 😁
Spider-man miles morales : glorified DLC. I can't believe the PS4 and PS5 versions are the same price. I get it when it's 19.99 or maybe 29.99.
@LiamCroft big question: Does PS5 keep5 track of playing time? Or did you keep track manually?
@Jarobusa https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/11/ps5_displays_your_playtime_in_next-gen_and_ps4_games
Why I am renting Miles Morales and SackBoy. They are perfect rentals.
Use the cash on AC: Valhalla - will be the 140hr+ game (Especially if the DLC is anything like Atlantis)
@PeterN80 I believe ultimate spider man on PS2/GC/Xbox had you play as venom in an open world though I might be wrong.
Also I know it's not as good as an insomniac developed next gen venom game might be!
@WexMajor I wasn't expecting it to be as short as it is, that's all. 12 hours seems like it can be finished pretty quickly
12 hours for spiderman im abit disappointed if im honest. This is why this should have been dlc not a new game . charging full price but sony knows this will sell like hot cakes . May be the remaster should have been thrown in for free just my thoughts lol
@Agramonte 100 hours of filler full of MT yeah thats great.😆
I will take quality over quantity any day.
I've seen other outlets say 6-7 hours for Miles Morales.
Is there a particular reason for this discrepancy?
@TheFrenchiestFry Spider Man 2018 was like 17 hours to beat the main game so 20 - 25 for a spin-off is unreasonable. 12 hours is way longer than what I expected.
@Latex it isn't full price though. It's only $50 as opposed to $60
Ok i give you its not next gen price of 60 pounds but here in the uk its 52 pounds and its not far off that next gen price for a 12 hour game . Now if it was 30 pounds thats a bargain or with spiderman remasted version for the 50 pounds it should be dlc as far as I'm concerned
@Agramonte Spiderman is terrible value in my opinion. I'm getting Valhalla and mates getting Spiderman. We've agreed to swap when completed. He'll be done in 2 days by sounds of it
As someone with a life (or so I've convinced myself), this is perfect.
As for the Valhalla comparisons, would you rather sit down to an amazing steak dinner, or order a family sized bucket of diarreah from menulog?
Meanwhile, at the legion of doom..
..I mean, dragons quest demo is 10 hours😆. It's awesome that astro is 5 hours. Can't remember the last time a game was boxed in with a console. Snes?
@PhhhCough PS4 and Vita both came with games. The Playroom and Welcome Park, respectively.
Whether they were good games, like Astro's Playroom looks to be, is another question.
@Morzy I agree, it looks fantastic but not much bang for your buck. I'll pick it up on sale
@TheFrenchiestFry one sitting for my son.
Hey, it's a free game so why not.
Thanks, PS team!
@Agramonte couldn't agree anymore
Just what expected.thats good to know.word up son
Good news on Astro bot. Does that time include 100% with all the optional trophy challenges too?
I was getting a bit bored by Spider-Man at the end, so I’m OK with 17hrs for MM, but not at this price. I’ll wait a while on that and finish Sackboy and Days Gone.
I am only interested in Spiderman Remastered to play on the PS5, but think it is locked behind the Ultimate edition of Miles Morales to start with?
Wonder when it will be available on it’s own 🤔
@Flaming_Kaiser That would still be more than 15hrs of "quality" for my money.
@Morzy Yeah, for sure. He will be waiting a really long time for that swap
Also, this is why Physical is always King for me.
I am doing the same thing with my cousin. But trading him AC for Age of Calamity on Switch. I'll have a head start - so timing should be ok I think.
@Agramonte Quality is a big word for me its busy time. 😜
This is excellent news! I prefer shorter games due to my limited free time, thanks to work and my online social life + hobbies.
