PS Plus Members Received Almost $800 Worth of PS5 and PS4 Games in 2020

Seeing as it was all digital I got exactly £32.95 worth of games in 2020.

I wonder how you calculate how much one saves from each game. Based on its current price or its price when it was offered for free (e.g. in January 2020 or now even it was offered in January?)

Admittedly, a lot of these games are on decent sales at various intervals prior to going on plus, but regardless of all that, for a couple of pounds a month it's been superb value for me.

Some people will never be happy whatever Sony gives away, but that's on them.

Most, like 95%, of the games given on PS+ are deeply discounted on a previous sale. Just Cause 4 was $9.99 in May. The real value of these games is much less.

I haven't even downloaded most of the plus games but I did replay all of the Uncharted trilogy (had those back in PS3 days so never bought the remasters), played Shadow of the Colossus, Fall Guys (which requires PS+ anyway), will definitely play Bugsnax and probably Worms - and maybe Bioshock at some point - and that sounds like a good deal to me

I guess that depends what price you value the games at, the original retail price or the fact that they were prob all on sale for a tenner the week before.

It's a pretty good value since I bought one year psplus only for $30 😃

Give PS4 owners access to the PS Plus Collection, Sony, yer tight gits!

@get2sammyb Thanks for the reply. Also thank Quimbly for separating out the "they really shouldn't count as PS+ games if PS4 owners don't have access to them" GC games. I saved Bugsnax to my library for future use so I'm ok w/ that one.

$800 still seems like a lot more than PS4 owners got, but when you consider Fall Guys was $20, well I can see how the rest of the year can add up that high even accounting for sales.

Just went over the list in the link, played about an hour each of Fall Guys and COD, but I think I also only joined up in May w/ the 1 year subscription I purchased last BF so I missed the beginning of the year. My sons will play any Worms game.

Oh well, maybe Concrete Genie will show up early next year. It's on sale $10 somewhere but I forgot where.

@get2sammyb Still seems like we're missing out after the PS3 and Vita offerings were dropped. Surely 2 'full price' games and an Indie might be better value?

Bugsnax being free on PS+ made this year's sub worth it.

It’s difficult for me to put an exact value on my utilization of the subscription because sometimes it takes me more than a year to get around to some of these games. (Playing through Valiant Hearts right now that I got from Plus like 3 years ago). I’ve claimed all the Plus games for a few years now and so I feel like $45 per year is perfectly reasonable to continue to have access to all 200+ of them. From 2020’s offerings I’ve played just 4 of them, with plans to play another 3-4 eventually.

@get2sammyb Hm... Then maybe we've ended up "saving" a bit more? Some of them could have cost more when they were offered as ps+ games.

Fallguys is the only game I've really put any time into this year and that was only for a few hours. I've added a few for the plus collection for PS5 such as Bloodborne (still not played it) but in general I've already bought or played most of these games before they appear on plus. If anything I'd much prefer new indie games to be on the service

Really? Surely a fairer way would be based on prices at the time they were given away. The PSPrices site keeps an accurate historic record.

Full retail price for bugsnax is only £17.99, but I get your point.

It's funny, most of the nits to pick with this number is "we saved more than that because the games used to cost more at the time!"

My nit to pick is it should be rated based on lowest sale price up to that point, since a lot of these games you could have obtained (and most of them I did obtain) for dirt cheap prices, not infrequently, long before they were the giveaways. Bugsnax excluded.

@Flaming_Kaiser IDK, I'm sure I buy more games than is average (and by a long shot) but most of the games that show up on + I already bought for great prices on PSN or MS sales. I'm not the average customer, of course, none of us are. Similarly Plus Collection is cool for newcomers to PS (are there many?) but most of us that had a PS4 already bought them all if we were interested in them, so it's a skewed value in that it's fantastic value for newcomers, and offers very little to repeat customers. Nothing wrong with that, I just mean from a subscriber value perspective.

I'll admit it's not been the worst year with a couple of decent time spinners which were well needed, Cities Skylines was the surprise of the year for me though, certainly gave me something to focus on whilst under lockdown. And I got my PS Plus sub for £30... Cos... Ya know, shopping around and that... 😁

@NEStalgia O buy tons of games on release and i own most of the games on PS Plus but even with that i still get quite a few and i still get my moneys worth. I rather see some more indie games though but then people complain that its indie trash. Lets be honest here its impossible too make everyone happy. If you get a GTA or RDR2 or COD or whatever its never good i like a bugsnax or other weird games because i dont own them.
