Uncharted PS5 PlayStation 5 1

Sony is recruiting talent to its recently established Malaysian first-party studio, and it’s looking for a Cinematic and In-Game Animator to help with its work on one of PlayStation’s most “well-known and well-loved franchises”. This is a support studio setup to help out the company’s various teams around the world, including Insomniac Games, Naughty Dog, and Guerrilla Games.

“We are looking for talented, highly-motivated, and creative animators to breathe life into the next chapter of cinematic storytelling,” a job advertisement reads, as retweeted by the organisation’s indie evangelist Shuhei Yoshida overnight. There’s very little additional information in the listing itself, aside from confirmation that candidates will be creating “in-game and pre-rendered animation” according to the requirements of the project.

Many believe that the team is helping out PlayStation’s unannounced San Diego studio, which is thought to be working on a new Uncharted title. In reality, though, it appears to be collaborating with all of Sony’s first-party studios, so this listing could just as easily apply to Santa Monica and God of War Ragnarok or Guerrilla Games and Horizon Forbidden West.
