Resident Evil

Capcom has been going from strength to strength across the PlayStation 4 generation, boasting record sales with Monster Hunter: World and revitalising the Resident Evil franchise with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil 2. It's a feel-good story, and it doesn't look like the Japanese publisher has any plans to stop the streak. Revealed in its new financial results, Capcom aims to release a number of "major" games before 31st March 2021.

In total, the company plans to release 13 SKUs. This doesn't mean that it will release 13 games in total, but rather 13 different versions of its upcoming titles. For example, Resident Evil 3 was three SKUs -- the PS4, Xbox One, and PC version. Resident Evil 8 is widely rumoured to be Capcom's next big game in the pipeline, and due to the assumption that it'll be a cross-gen title, this will most likely cover five of those SKUs (PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC).

That leaves us with five other SKUs to work with, which could mean that Capcom has another big cross-gen game lined up for the near future. What could it be? Well, the Japanese publisher classes its "major" games as something that's at least as big as Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. It's recent Nintendo Switch ports of the Devil May Cry franchise do not count. The speculated Resident Evil 4 Remake is also not coming this fiscal year, so that's another game you can rule out for now.

Could this make way for a new Street Fighter game? A Dead Rising reboot? A Power Stone revival? Share your predictions in the comments below.
