Media Molecule has spent the entirety of PS4's life developing Dreams, but it turns out the wait was worth it. The studio has made a near limitless creative toolset that gives players the power to make pretty much anything. Something so ambitious could've easily been a disaster, but the developer has pulled it off with an incredible game-making suite that's about as intuitive as can be. That's not to mention the brilliant Art's Dream story, or the thousands of mightily impressive community creations already available. For those looking to stretch their creative muscles, or just play something completely unique, Dreams delivers on all fronts.

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Release Date: 24th Mar 2015 (USA) / 27th Mar 2015 (UK/EU)

After the enormous success of Dark Souls, Sony threw a bunch of cash at From Software to make a brand new IP exclusively for the PS4. The result is Bloodborne, a faster and slicker Dark Souls that draws a lot of influence from Lovecraftian horror. You've got Victorian London-style environments, dark forests, witches, and werewolves – everything a horror fan needs. When it comes to atmosphere, Bloodborne is in a league of its own, and it's a masterclass in level design.

Nathan Drake’s last hurrah is arguably his best yet. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is filled with twists and turns, and it brilliantly blends bombast with close personal moments, wrapping up many of the story arcs from the PS3 trilogy – while kickstarting some new ones. Naughty Dog’s art department is once again on fire, while the voice acting and cut-scene direction is a level above what’s available elsewhere.

1. God of War (PS4)

God of War (PS4)God of War (PS4)
Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment / Developer: SCE Santa Monica Studio
Release Date: 20th Apr 2018 (USA) / 20th Apr 2018 (UK/EU)

God of War is a landmark adventure game. With excellent combat, jaw-dropping visuals, and a heartfelt story, it's one of the PS4's very best games and a must-buy. While parts of the classic God of War formula still reside within this reincarnation, it's overall a much different experience -- a much better one, as far as we're concerned. And that seems crazy given that we've always loved Kratos and his violent escapades, but now he's got a beard and a big axe, and his supremely polished Nordic adventure is absolutely breathtaking from start to finish.
