Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been very quietly trucking along ever since its launch back in late 2017, delivering lots of free content for its dedicated community. It sounds like a genuinely good game now, and it's only going to get better later this week with a host of new additions inspired by the upcoming blockbuster film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Due for release on Thursday 5th December, Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition bundles together every single piece of purchasable, customisable content released for the game and adds new items taken from the ninth entry in the saga. You'll be able to get your hands on Legendary Appearances for Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren when the movie hits theatres on 20th December, as well as a new map and characters to play as. We assume this means the Stormtroopers equipped with jet packs that a recent TV ad teased.
This sounds like a great update to the title, and surely a bit of a love letter to Star Wars fans across the globe. Don't forget that Star Wars Battlefront 2 is included in a subscription to EA Access if you're interested in checking the game out for yourself. Are you going to sign up? Do you play Star Wars Battlefront 2 still? Turn to the dark side in the comments below.

I haven’t played this in a while, but this might get me to jump back in.
I still have it installed but haven’t touched it in a while. It will be interesting to see how this new bundle does as the game is pretty solid now and has been for quite some time.
Nice! Time to reinstall it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again...I HIGHLY recommend people try the Heroes & Villains mode...4v4 battles where everyone plays as one of the main characters!
Its always been a good game from day one. Never had to pay for any additional content unlike other games. I cant find the source in the article but a new map sounds good
I picked this up earlier this year and it's a lot of fun, the campaign was rubbish but the multiplayer was good with much better progression than the original and generally better content with one huge exception. Walker Assault from the original is better than any mode on this with much better map designs than its equivalent here with better vehicles and locations. This one is still a lot of fun and well worth picking up these days as the class system is cool as is the way you get to play as heroes etc in game which is much improved from the run to the icon method, so I often flick between the two games depending on what modes I want to play
@carlos82
I stopped playing SWBF 1 after this one released but I always found the progression (in SWBF1) was more difficult to unlock cards. Took forever just to unlock sniper rifle. In this one progression was awkward because of (non purchasable) lootbox but you could unlock cards early easily and of course all free content.
@JJ2 yeah the progression wasn't very good in the original, I never played this at launch but the progression is really good these days as you level up the characters you play as and earn upgrades for them. Pretty simple concept that works perfectly but many developers forget in their pursuit of money but yeah these days this is a very good game
@carlos82 I very much miss Walker assault and also the multi phase models of the first one! The game had huge flaws but the hoth map was amazing
@carlos82
Tbh I maxed out most of what I was interested in long ago and dont know what to do with credit so theres that haha
It is a good game, certainly a damned sight better than it was at launch.
I haven't played in a little bit - but that's mostly because the Starfigher Onslaught mode is still broken and has been for nearly 18 months.
@R1spam I loved the Hoth map and the Tatooine one too, I've got a video of me single handedly winning on the latter. Most are obsessed with getting their kill death ratio as high as possible and don't bother with the objectives, so we got to a point with the 2 AT-AT's basically at the end of the level with nearly full health and I took them both down with a snowspeeder 😁
@RogerRoger Hahaha
The opening sentence does read a bit 'don't like it, don't care'
@RogerRoger Whatever tickles your pickle.. weirdo!
I haven't put it on in ages. maybe something for the screen shot competition...
Is baby Yoda in it yet?
@ApostateMage No, but they're adding BB-8 and BB-9E in January if that's any consolation.
