Original Story: Last week during Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima presented nearly an hour's worth of fresh Death Stranding gameplay. The demonstration unpacked a fair amount about the enigmatic PlayStation 4 exclusive, showing off what you'll be getting up to as you trek across a ruined North America. Of course, the whole thing was presented in Japanese, but we were able to get the gist of what was happening.
Now, courtesy of IGN, Kojima's running commentary has been translated into English. This should help clear up a few things; for example, the lion-like creature Sam fights is called a Catcher, and is one of the weaker beasts you may have to fight throughout the game.

I was on the fence but the more I see the less interested I am. One thing that really annoyed the heck out if me was the signs left by others and like system(yes you see the thumb and a like count on signs people leave). There is a part where he drives a few feet and there is a sign already. Then a bit up a hill is a sign about bumpy terrain and many likes on it. I really don't want this social media like system in a game.
I know they said you get no reward from it, but same as in real life people crave the like attention. So now people will be making signs or bridges everywhere hoping for likes. I have no desire to see this.
The idea of questing with others sounds better than just seeing hints from other players everywhere. I'd hope you can turn it off, didn't watch English version to see if that was mentioned. But he is making a big deal of connections and connecting people, so thinking that may not be turn offable. I'm sure many love this idea. I'm not a fan.
@Gumbopudding You can always play it offline, though I think you miss out on the biggest point of the game doing so.
@AdamNovice Well good there is an offline mode. But you are right. If he is designing it around that, the point is missing and it will feel pointlessly empty.

That’s kinda weird actually. Especially because you know that Japanese is the non-original dub here. It’s natively an English game because of Norman Reedus.
The idea of creating paths if many people follow the same route and building roads sounds intriguing. I'm certainly interested but still going to read a few (trusted) reviews first. At the very least it sounds like a unique gaming experience.
Finally, a game where ruining the landscape by building a giant penis is no longer a solo effort but a collaboration work
Jokes aside, it looks interesting, but I don't know how much I like the idea of "connecting" and finding an highway with rest stops, restaurants and such, all along the way to my objective. Kind of takes the challenge away...
Of course I'd still like that more than finding a path or a bridge in the shape of a penis, created by the collaboration of ten thousand players, with millions of likes
Truly, anything is possible...
Actually they stopped saying "only on PS4" and "PS4 exclusive" so it is very likely that at some point it will release on other systems PC being the most likely
